Created a new topic Version 0.5.5 released

Version 0.5.5 is here. Network gameplay is now smoother than before, specially on the client's side. The AI movement has been improved a lot, you will notice it. Moreover, overall performance is better now. All models have been optimized and the AI consumes less CPU.

Also, the Arcade mode has more 8-bit sounds:

As you can notice, the light effects are now better since the bloom effect was improved.

In this version the bosses (allies and enemies) have been improved. They will be harder to kill and once they appear a health bar will be displayed on the right.

Created a new topic Upcoming version 0.5.5

Version 0.5.5 is almost here.
In this version I put the focus on optimizations, the enemy bosses and the arcade mode. Performance in single/online games has been checked and improved. The AI movement is smoother now on clients, and the game runs faster than ever with more enemies. Test with 200 enemies:

i5 4210U + Nvidia 840M = 35 fps
i5 3570K + Nvidia 670 GTX = 90fps+

Now the enemy bosses are stronger. They will be harder to kill and once a boss appears (ally or enemy) a permanent health bar will be displayed on the right (until it dies).

All sounds have been changed to 8-bit era for the Arcade mode. Wait for the incoming gameplay video!

There are other improvements that will be revealed along with the version, probably this weekend.

Created a new topic Version 0.5.4 released

Version 0.5.4 has arrived! First magic spell has been added to medieval characters (only the crusader for now, Ricardo). This will give those characters a better use on ranged attacks.

As you can see, it is almost unlimited. Mana will be implemented on later versions, among with more spells.

Now you will be able to buy ally bosses to fight those giant enemy bosses out there:

Übertank (modern characters) - 8500 gold
Master of the Elements (medieval characters) - 7500 gold

Also, DirectX 12 and OpenGLCore support has been added to Windows Build. If your graphic card supports DirectX 12, the game should be running using this API. Sadly, I can't test it since mine doesn't fully support it.
The game should be running faster now. AI has been optimized!

The last but not the least, the UI store can be managed now using Fx keys, instead of the numeric keyboard. I got many emails from laptop users not being able to buy allies and stuff in game so I changed it!

Created a new topic Version 0.5.3 released

Version 0.5.3 is here. Along with several fixes, you can now activate the Arcade mode in Game settings menu. If checked, all enemy sounds are changed: attack sounds, death sounds and floating damage font are 8-bit like. Bodies will also disappear faster in the ground.

Accuracy and explosions have been improved: now it is harder to aim if you are moving and easier if you are standing or crouched, and explosion's light are a bit more real.

The upcoming version 0.5.2 will feature a new playable medieval character: The Crusader. You won't be able to buy soldiers, tanks or modern weapons. Instead, you can buy medieval soldiers and magic.

Created a new topic Upcoming version 0.5

Next version 0.5 is on it's way. It is time to polish the game even more and add more different playable characters.

In this version, there will be modern and medieval playable characters. You will not be able to launch the meteor rain and hire medieval characters with the current playable characters. Instead, only medieval characters will be able to do it. Meteor rain will be replaced by an artillery attack for modern characters.

Medievals will be able to carry only medieval weapons which are the following: broadsword, longsword, spear, bow and magics.
This will make the overall experience quiet different depending on which character you selected.

There is also a new game mode being tested: Survival. In this game mode you can not win, you should last as much as you can, and the enemies spawn at a higher rate.

In addition, maps are no longer locked on specific game modes. You will be able to play any map in any game mode, deathmatch included: all Base vs Base maps are now playable on Classic Last Stand and Survival game modes, deathmatch has now 3 different maps.

The first version 0.5.0 is coming soon. It will feature most of the points described.

Experience

Every character on this game (turrets included) has experience. You can check their kill count and current level by pointing your gun at them. Each level provides the character with more melee strength and attack speed. At level 5, the character gains health regeneration.

Money

Killing enemies by yourself or by your allies gives you money. In Base vs Base and Classic Last Stand game modes you can use it directly with your keyboard. In Wave survival game mode you can only use it in a world store.

Buildings and store

In this game you should not only care about your health: your base is as important as yourself. You may have noticed there are different type of buildings. If you lose one type or another, you will lose store options:

  • Barrack - Infantry
  • Factory - Vehicles
  • Helipad - Planes/Helicopters
  • Radar - Superweapons

This only applies for Base vs Base and Classic Last Stand game modes. There are also ally tokens that calls for an ally from time to time-

Weapons

You can carry four types of weapons, each one assigned to a key, one type at the same time:

  • Key 1: Melee
  • Key 2: Pistols
  • Key 3: Shotgun
  • Key 4: Rifles
  • Key 5: Heavy weapons

Melee

If you run out of ammo, you can perform a simple melee attack with the "V" key, while pointing and enemy next you you.

Grenades

You can throw grenades with "G" button.

Friendly Fire

There is friendly fire only with explosions: grenades and heavy weapons

Medic Pack

Only available in Wave survival game mode, it can heal yourself by pressing "Q" button. It recharges overtime. You can check it's status next to your health (look for "MP")

Clash of Aggression features five different game modes. Victory condition vary from one to another, as well as some game mechanics:

Classic Last Stand

  • Victory condition: In this mode you should hold against the hordes for 10 minutes. Once the limit is reached, there will be no more enemy reinforces. When the last enemy is killed, you win.
  • Defeat condition: Your team base is destroyed.

You can buy allies, superweapons and ammo from the interface store. Just select the type you can to buy with F5 - F9 keys, and select the desired item with the numeric keyboard. Most of maps featuring this game mode has respawn for the player.

Base vs Base

  • Victory condition: The enemy base is destroyed.
  • Defeat condition: Your team base is destroyed.

In this game mode there is no time limit. The store can be access also from F5 - F9 keys and numeric keyboard. There is also respawn available.

Wave survival

  • Victory condition: Survive the last wave (number of waves depends on difficulty selected).
  • Defeat condition: Your character dies.

There is no respawn, your character can't sprint and the enemies are slower but they have more health. In this mode the store appears at the end of each wave: you should look for it, there is a red sign "SHOP" that randomly appear in different positions.

In this game mode you can heal yourself with your medic pack. Just press "Q". It takes a time to reach it's fully capacity.

Deathmatch

  • Victory condition: You are the first to reach the frag limit.
  • Defeat condition: An opponent reachs first the frag limit.

Simple rules. There are random power ups with weapons in the map. Explore a little and get better weapon than your opponents.

Survival

  • Victory condition: You can't win. Survive as much as you can.
  • Defeat condition: Your team base is destroyed.

There is no scape. Survive until your base is destroyed. Enemy spawn rate is higher, constant.
