That's correct, the original version on FAB was DMCA'd and taken down, but we're not really allowed to say much more than that. 
This current version has been almost entirely remade (with plenty more features/updates added since the original as well.) While it's impossible to say if anything is "safe" or not, we do believe it's more in the hands of the developers and how they choose to use these assets when it comes to not infringing on existing IPs. 

As for why we switched platforms, we ran into issues with FAB before so we switched to itch.io for unrelated reasons to the DMCA. I believe FAB might be better nowadays but honestly we're quite happy with itch!

Hello! The models are .FBX and they all come skinned to a skeleton

yes all characters are rigged! :- ) and animations are included

the rig file is also included if you want to edit the rig or make new animations, but it is a .ma file for Maya use only. 

Hello! This game template is specifically for Unreal Engine
However this asset pack is compatible with Unity if you don’t mind implementing the assets yourself! If you're interested, I would recommend taking a closer look at what's included in the asset pack since there are some tools/features from this game template that do not transfer to Unity :- )

Heya! We've actually been working on a separate asset pack that will be up for sale shortly. It won't include anything that relies heavily on Unreal tools to be useable, but all the current characters, rigs, and anims will definitely be in there!
