For anyone that enjoyed this, I'd strongly recommend The House Abandon, and the related game collection, Stories Untold. It's very obvious this game was heavily, heavily inspired by it, and I suspect that you folks would enjoy it even more, since it's such a good game/collection.

Unfortunately, the promising atmosphere is just ruined by way, way too many pauses. Everything feels like it takes about three times longer than it should. There's a few moments where some tension is raised, but it's almost always immediately stifled by some form of pause that's entirely divorced from the situation itself.

Decent effort for a first attempt, though. I suspect you'll be rather good if you keep trying. I'd suggest getting someone to play through your next attempt and judge how the tension holds up, since there's only a few changes that would be needed to make this rather good.

Edit: Oh, and to echo a few other folks, it would be best to find a theme for your game and stick with it. It kinda feels like you were trying to hit all the typical analog horror tropes, even when they didn't really match what you were presenting. In particular, the mandela catalog goofy faces and the 8-bit retro game segment felt completely out of nowhere, and definitely stifled any atmosphere that was building.

Just throwing down a few things I've noticed, nothing big so far.

In the difficulty selection menu, difficulty is typoed to difficluty.
When you turn off Gore in the settings, it throws you to the font selection menu and disables handwriting. You can then turn both back on without issue.
