Hey! Thanks for letting me know about this! I... honestly can't even say what I was thinking with that haha. The game was whipped up a little too fast and that flew under my radar. My initial intent is as you first described it - taking and dealing damage are always applied. I'll clarify it in a slight update coming Soon to remove that phrase and clear up any confusion around it, thank you for letting me know!
Hey! I wouldn't call the game too terribly complex, as far as numbers and crunch go. While the game has 80 something pages, the vast majority of those are Options for your Lordsworns and scaffolding to help play. It's designed to be more Vibes and Storytelling than complicated rules.
It can also be played Solo to test things out slowly and at your pace, which might help to digest everything easier for you :) Let me know if that cleared things up for you!!
Hey! I'm glad you're enjoying the game so far, I'd love to hear about how it goes! :)
As a note, if you're a backer of the game on Kickstarter you should definitely have received access to all of the digital files via both Itch and BackerKit, so if that's not the case please message me on Kickstarter and I'll work that out for you. However, if you bought the physical copy not through Kickstarter (at Breakout Con?), I can definitely send you the digital files free of charge of course, sorry about that!
My X account is... basically not used anymore, sorry, so I wouldn't have seen the message there. It's also notoriously bad for not showing messages even when I was using it, so I likely missed it even if I did log on. It's best to reach out via Bluesky if that's an option for you!
I can issue you a refund really easily here if you'd like, but please message me on Kickstarter (if you're a backer) or Bluesky as it's easier to manage than X. :)
Hi there!! First, I wanted to thank you so much for the kind words and letting me know about your game! I can't begin to express how happy it makes creators to know someone is playing our stuff. The Teapot has a special soft spot in my heart as my first "big" game, so I'm happy some of the elements of the design (limited scope of the character, interconnecting the eras via the Infusers etc.) seem to happening for you!
I do love this story already you've got going, like a lot. That's a fun arch of Alchemist Researcher into War Veteran that makes sense. I really like the idea of studying the tea plants in such a scientific way too, that's a fun angle. Makes me think of wine makers!
Thank YOU for playing! I'd love to hear about any further developments your little Teapot gets up to! :) I also hope it gets you into more Solo TTRPGs, there's so many good ones out there!
I'm so happy my little snail game got played and you enjoyed it!! To answer a few of your comments:
Tie breakers: I don't remeber if I actually addressed this in the text, apologies! It was one of those game jam games that just got a lot of crunch and definitely missed some things. I'll add those if I get around to fixing this game up a bit in the future (I'd like to!)
More Snail Stuff: Oh I love those ideas! Yes, I think beefing up the snails a bit more would do well! I'll definitely consider it, thank you for the ideas.
I hope one day, when bigger projects aren't dominating my time, to do a little touch up for this game, so stay tuned!
Thank you for commenting and the reminder! My main WIP has been consuming a lot more time than I thought, but I have managed to make a template that should work to make these more digital friendly! I just need to transfer all the text into them, double check it all worked correctly, and then it'll be ready! I'm hoping to have it done by the end of the month.
Thanks for reaching out! I'm hoping to be able to offer that, yes!! I'm going to look into if it's possible to, either through Kickstarter or the BackerKit once we're in that phase. :) So stay tuned (following my Twitter might be the best place to keep up to date on that though, but I will make an update for this game to let folks know too!)
I'm really excited for this Jam! I'm thinking of doing something a little... Safe? Going to do a twist on the Dark Souls 3 storyline of awakening Lords of Cinders to reignite the First Flame, but you're a Firekeeper and it's... slightly less "Chosen Undead beats up a lot of Guys" and more navigating that role of catalyst and diplomat almost.
We'll see! I'm giving myself two weeks to "play around and have fun" after LORDSWORN finishes as a mental reset!
