The days when I used to type everything into the DOS command line in MS-DOS are 40 years in the past. Today, I just need to load a ROM with a single click. So thanks, but no... MAME isn't suitable for me.

not so much .. cant find or load that SNX file. Never used MAME before.

I tried running it under Cspect in a rather naive way, but ... no cigar.

very nice, stylish gfx, slick UI.

It looks clearly like the best "street fighter" game for Speccy in terms of technology. Pixel art, full-screen vertical and horizontal scrolling, huge sprites, and still excellent speed!

Dynamite Dan/Jet set Willy .. plus obnoxious simple beeper music !

I don't have Next, but at least I appreciate the good work.

thanks .. And the original authors, I assume, are all over 65 years old and senility is starting to set in, heh.

"Efficient code on this CPU requires manual register allocation" ..

"Hand-optimized assembly can be up to 10× faster than compiler output — at a significant cost in development time."

I see you have expert knowledge of Z80. Question: would it be possible today to speed up, for example, R-type or Chase HQ by a significant percentage?

looks faster /smoother/ than Atari ST version, go figure.

happy xmas and thanks.

Even after an exhaustive explanation, it still seems "impossible" that this could run quickly on Speccy!

I hope that this text will inspire many Spectrum programmers. And I assume that with a much more powerful ZX Spectrum Next, incredible things could be achieved with a similar philosophy and efficiency.

truly an awesome code.

I'm just passing by, but thanks for your work.

Nice. A scary Halloween game... and if you can, in the future, factor in the 28 MHz ZX Spectrum Next in your engine, duh.

cheers, fantastic !

its better, thanks.

a collision detection /bounding boxes?/ is a bit iffy .. if possible make it a lil more forgiving.

.. some gameplay video.

Cheers and thanks !

It looks mighy fine. Downloaded. Paid.

used QAOP emulator, gfx is very nice, runs very good, just no sound 48/128K.

Is it a standard uncompiled BASIC program ?

Congratulations that the game is now also for Sam Coupe.

Literally Ultima RPG, nothing less ! And in BASIC.

I bought the first episode and I'm buying the second one, I really appreciate your work.

bought, you deserve it.

and bought .. next do MULE.

OK !

YT video

13:38 min .. situation .. a pit with spikes and a snake falls into it, at the same time there are collectible coins, couldn't the spikes be made to kill the snake, otherwise a grenade should probably be used ?

Running fine under Cspect emulator. The character controls well, traversing the screens is fast, gfx is nice, sfx is good ..

Shigeru Miyamoto, the renowned Japanese video game designer, once wisely stated, "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad."

I follow your work and I see that the engine is clearly adapted to the requirements of the game. Think of SRPG as Hero Quest for Speccy.

In the end, this engine deserves some isometric RPG, action or SRPG, too.

yes we like you, go on.

I knew it. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed for every other game you make !

I am not a programmer but I understand what you are saying. Does it mean that the game is programmed in BASIC /?/ when it needs so much time to render the whole frame ..

very nice, just one small technical thing about the rendering of the main window when moving .. omit the phase of complete darkness, hm.

Yeah, sure. Almost as good as the Level 9 stuff, heh.
