Cute little game! Was a little anxious throughout reading it bc I understand failing and failing in baking and especially the pressure of making it for someone else ;; Got caught off guard by the ending name "arrested"- I hope they're not actually arrested!! Tell the guys to try buying it online lol

Got it! Thanks for the explanation and the link to the playthrough!! Good luck on the fixes :DD
Oh and another suggestion I forgot to mention is to submit this game to a fitting game jam so that more people can discover it! Currently there's the Interactive Fiction 2025 jam which is open all year long, but you can check other jams that could fit :D
I finished it!! (Sort of?) I'll start with my general review then bug reports and feedback :D
Okay so for your first ever game this is really, really, really impressive. Like, genuinely I think without the technical issues this is such a good game- story-wise, format-wise, graphic-wise... You must have worked really hard for this!!
It's not easy to have such customizations and gameplay in RPGMaker so to immediately do it on your first try is sooooo cool!!! Writing detective stories AND putting it in a game format is not easy too, as you have to figure out the crime itself AND how to give bits of it in a certain way to the player so that's it's fun but challenging. Good job!!!
Then, here are some bugs that I found:
- The first body inspection- clicking one place several times proceeds the evidence count
- Items-> witness- Matteo and Daneo got switched up?
- When getting CCTV evidence from friend B, it can be repeated, doubling the evidence count
- If chose "later" when "smoke for a while", I think the button disappears and we can't pick it again?
- "Note" in [items] was too long it got cut by the screen edges, maybe there's a way to scroll it?
- After Freya's interrogation the music returns to the normal jazz for all interrogations. I think in this interrogation screen overall there are some music continuity(?) issues.
- When defend Matteo- if wrong item, sometimes it won't try again?
- On the [not letting Scelus check the painting] route, after Matteo's interrogation, the game won't continue :")
- I got two "2A" endings? One is "2A Living Sunset and Flashing Blood" and the other is "2A - Living Sunset"
- Grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes, but this is not major as I could still understand the game.
So far that's the most noticeable bugs I can find! Again, I totally understand that this game has a lot of gameplay so bugs tend to occur and that's totally okay!
Then, here are some feedbacks:
- Have more people playtest, preferably people that are used to playing this genre / type / engine of game. Direct them to practically "break" the game (try all possibilities) and get all outcomes. Additionally, have people to proofread, or use a grammar check app/website.
- This game has quite a gorey depiction of violence, blood, etc, and it also touches on heavy topics, so I think you should put a Content/Trigger warning. Just the ethical thing to do to make your players comfortable and know what they're expecting :)
- Just a minor feedback but would be cool if you could customize the text window and Game Over screen because the rest of the custom graphics are already so cool!
- I noticed that you credited ChGPT, and I want to kindly remind you that this is really frowned upon in the ethical gamedev community ;; chgpt is GenAI, which illegally steals data! Codes for game engines are manually created by human programmers, that's why many plugins require credit or even some purchase. It's similar to how artists are against GenAI. I suggest looking into who originally made the code. If you have any issues, check out the rpgmaker forum, reddit, or various communities in social media. :)
Lastly, this is more of a request, but I would love if you could make an ending guide, hehe. I'm sure other players would appreciate that too! :D
I know this is a lot of things, but I really hope you don't get overwhelmed, and I hope you understand that all I'm saying is in good faith! Again, this is already so impressive for a first game, and I want others to enjoy it comfortably too, hence my notes.
I hope my comment was a good constructive feedback and it can help you for this game and your gamedeving journey!
I'm looking forward to the fixes btw I was practically left in a cliffhanger I NEED to know the truth!!!!1!1 XD
Good luck!
Sorry for my late reply again, when I saw your comments I can't stop thinking about it that I forgot to reply... I'm really grateful..... 🥺
Especially that second paragraph lmao it lives in my head rent free and I can't stop giggling when I think about it 😭 If I can be honest I screenshot-ed that and put it in my personal "hall of fame" lmao
Thank you again and again for playing my games!! I hope you'll look forward to future games!! ❤️
Thank you so much for analyzing their relationship ;; I'm really happy when people do that hehe :3
I was also frustrated writing the bad options lol but at the same time I think bro needs some real push ;;
I like how you just name-dropped the player character too lmao this game was supposed to be vague and up-to-interpretation so I actually REALLY appreciate your effort in finding out more about them!!! <3
Thanks for playing!
Thank you so much for this comment!! I had fun reading how you had fun with it XD
Yes you're correct with the Japanese part lol. Glad you enjoyed the funny parts I myself enjoyed making :3
And yes I *also* need games featuring nice Dads like Dra, please if you or anyone have any recommendations... ;;
Thanks for playing my games to get to know the characters! Thanks for the Hiro bday wish too :)
The reply by Manedza is mostly correct! (Thank you so much for the help in answering!)
For the normal and true end, there are 3 choices that determine the endings:
Normal : compliment, take hand, "I love him!"
True : apologize, give hand, "go to library"
You need at least 2/3 to get to the ending.
The rest is correct :)
Thank you for playing!
Thank you for playing and please look forward to the next chapters!! <3
Yes, most of my games are connected, but they're just pieces of the story with hidden pieces in them that you would have to piece again ;;
They work completely fine as standalone games, so you can play them in any order!
Thank you so much for your interest!!
What a refreshing but classic horror RPG experience! I love all the artworks, especially the enemies and the ghosts! I do need more explanation and elaboration (and I definitely need a good ending) but I understand the time constraints and I guess it's just that kind of mysterious free-to-interpret narratives! A suggestion I have is to add more impact on the ghost CGs, like make it a jumpscare with sudden animation/display (not slow fade) and sound effects! I think some more BGMs are needed too to avoid repetition, and maybe use more eery BGMs for eery scenes.
Overall it was really great!!! Really nice to see this genre from an Indo dev :3
Yayy thankyou! :D I think I'll just replay it since it's still close to the beginning anyway ^^
Also yeah what I meant is credit! Usually for games published in itchio, devs would put the credits on the game page (often with hyperlinks) so others can easily access it without having to download or finish the game :) some creators may also require credit on the game itself AND the distribution website (in this case this itchio game page). I was suggesting you to do it but of course it's up to you :)
While we're talking about game page, I also suggest customizing more of the page! (having a banner, uploading the background, using images for headers, etc) I believe it's quite effective to convice people to play your game ;)
Sorry for the long suggestions! I saw that you wrote that you appreciate feedback so I hope what I said was constructive!
I'll go play the game now!!! I'll be back later on a new comment :D
This hit quite close to home, as I am someone who has art as a hobby for all my life but decided to pursue a different major/career because I don't want to make something I love into something I hate (working :"))
I'm currently pursuing social sciences instead so I can learn how to make a future where we can truly have the freedom to do art (time-wise, politically, and financially) lol :") Wish me luck tho hehe
Good work on the zine!
Yes it usually works when you reload the game, but it means you have to save a lot of times, and this type of game has a lot of cutscenes, so it can get quite impractical and mess with the flow ^^"
Also I'm not sure if everyone experiences this issue. I think those with a stronger PC(?) [something tech-y I dunno], might have no issues.
Yes by crediting resources I mean any extra stuff (music, bgs, plugins, etc) that you use that are not from the RMMV's default! I assumed you used some extra plugins due to various customizations/mechanics (eg. Sound when someone is talking, point and click, the sprite change animation thing) so that's why I asked :D Ofc if turns out you didn't use them it's fine, and forgive me for assuming ;;
Speaking of, the custom things I just said above are really really cool especially when it's your first game!! Usually beginner RPM devs just use the default resources (like me ;;) provided by the engine lol
Anyway good luck fixing it!! Can't wait to play it again when it's fixed :)
Hello! Unfortunately the game (graphics) freezed early in the game :(
Fortunately though, I might know the issue and how to fix it!(?) RMMV likes to freeze when there's too many graphics (pictures we imported ourselves), especially if the files are either too big or too many at the same time. To fix this you can look up this rpm forum. I personally just use Kido's GraphicsRenderFix. :)
I suggest you write the credits for the resources that you use on this game page, first for the usual gamedev ethics, and second so that people can find and know what resources you use and end up either helping themselves or helping you too! (like finding bugs etc)
If you need any help or anything you know where to find me ;)
If you want me to delete this comment after you fixed the bug I'll gladly do it too!
I hope it can get fixed soon, I'm liking what I've played so far!!! Good luck!
Used this music for my Visual Novel and credited you properly! :D
So far it's only for one short scene but I'll use it more later!
Thank you for the wonderful music <3
Thank you so much, your comment actually made me so happy! 😭 I really appreciate when people look beyond my individual games and look for connections to my other games 🥹
You commenting on this devlog also made me notice some typos/grammar mistakes, I probably wrote this in a hurry and didn't proofread it, so thank you 😭🙏
Thank you for the kind words, I hope you'll look forward to my future works!
Aw this gave me such a somber feeling :"D Why is it so hard to make a career out of art... :")
I tried manymany times but couldn't get all the endings, especially the good one (if there is?). I wonder if you're planning to make an ending guide? I want to see her happy :"D And I don't want to believe that no matter how much I try I can't defeat the system. I can!! With the help of others :"D Sorry for the random analogy haha
Great game!! Artstyle was really lovely and fitting for the gloomy mood.
Literal goosebumps. A 5-minute experience that I might continue to think about for weeks, even years. Might be cliche to say, but the game and the little essay were absolutely brilliant. I can't comment long and deep analyses like others did, I'm genuinely at a loss for words.
Something I think others haven't mentioned tho- is the bite-sized format of the game. It's quick. It's easy. It's fun. It looks cute. I believe everyone here knows how capitalism shapes the media we consume and affects our attention span. It's such a good ""bait"" (I mean this very positively) for A LOT of people to learn and reflect on. But regardless, I think it was super impressive that you were able to give such a strong everlasting message from a short simple game.
I will be recommending this game to others! Thank you for making this game.
Thank you for the comment!!! This genuinely relieves me because I was quite worried that giving hints of their lore and having many character interactions would seem to deviate from the period theme and make people less invested! 🥲
I'm *super* happy that you're intrigued by the magic part too! Because again it's a realistic educational game so I was afraid people might get weirded out by the "random" fantasy elements 😭 It's not that I decided to randomly put fantasy here, but I've had these characters for 10+ years and it is simply part of their lore :")
So I'm really glad you enjoyed it!! Thank you!!
Thank you so much Kiro for always being so quick to try out my games and give a comment!!! 😭 I genuinely don't know how to show my appreciation but I genuinely really appreciate it and I genuinely hope you can feel how much I appreciate it🥹
And thank you for sharing your experience!! I hope I also gave enough disclaimer/explained it enough in the game that many periods are light too!! Thank you for commenting as others may see it and see how diverse the period experience is :D
I played this game a long time ago before I became this active in itchio so I just want to come here again to give a good comment and rating! This is one of the first VNs made by an Indonesian dev that I've ever played (if not the first! I don't remember well) so I was really amazed by it! The story, format, basically the general quality! There was this proud feeling rooting from Indo pride lol but now it turned to dissapointment to our country smh. Because it's such a shame that such a good game like this is barely appreciated and supported here! But I'm glad that you can get the support you deserve from the rest of the world. Hopefully more Indonesians can appreciate it as well! Keep on creating!!!
