Thank you for sharing this! I will admit that the "Voidcrawl" was taken from a pre-deluxe-edition version of Liminal Horror. I recently thought about this (to respond to another comment here on the itch page), and came up with the following changes to tighten up that part of the procedure and bring it in line with the LH Deluxe Edition version of the voidcrawl:

The Voidcrawl Die is always a D6, and the Aboveground Voidcrawl table becomes

  1. Doom
  2. Twisted Forest
  3. Monster
  4. Horror
  5. Clue
  6. Reprieve

the Underground Voidcrawl table becomes

  1. Doom
  2. Omen
  3. Cave-in
  4. Monster
  5. Free
  6. Reprieve

If you run it again, this might be a better way to deploy the encounter tables as they are written in the current version.

You are probably right. This was my first attempt at writing a Voidcrawl, using the older version of the Liminal Horror SRD, and if I was making this adventure today, I would probably change this up in the following way (bringing it in line with the Voidcrawl description in the upcoming Liminal Horror: Deluxe Edition):

You can certainly run it however you like, but they were designed to be fought. When I have run them, their goal is to Foul as many PCs as they can before they get squashed.

Yes! While I fully expect one person (the one who owns the game) to be most familiar with the game and be the guide for the other players, mechanically all players contribute equally to the game.

The version in this set is statted for Liminal Horror. There is a version for The Lost Bay that I adapted shortly after the first publication of One Hour Photo last year. That has not been updated for The Lost Bay’s new Reborn ruleset, however, and I will probably be taking all my old TLB stuff down soon and updating them. It’s on the To Do List. All of that being said, the vibes are the same for the module, so you could probably play it with TLB: Reborn by just ignoring the numbers in the stat blocks. 

Great looking adventure! I'm impressed with how you managed to fit 3 separately motivated NPCs/factions into only 3 pages and an 8-room dungeon. Very well done.

Great looking pamphlet (and I loved your design breakdown in NftG). 

Love the idea of pulling the Stone Pin and just completely flipping a campaign on its head!

Thank you so much! Honestly, I'd love to give more info, and I would have liked to have added a proper second faction as well, but the space limitations on the jam were a little too much for that. Maybe one day this will become a 12- or 20-page zine with everything fully fleshed-out, but for now, here we are. Thanks for giving it a read!

I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the game! I must admit that I’m not familiar with Roll20. When I have played online, we have used a Discord video chat and a screen share of a graphic design program (Affinity Publisher) where I could easily create rectangles and then change their colors later. If that software isn’t available, you might be able to manage the same effect by screen sharing a PowerPoint window where you can add rectangles over a grid? Hope this helps!

Yes, it is designed to be played solo. However, I will say the solo mode is really focused on being "play as prep," where you are using the game for the purpose of building a dungeon to be used later in a different game.

So, I don't really have an example using this system, but in this post on my newsletter you can see how I use sparks when I play: https://inkanddice.substack.com/p/exploring-the-graveyard-of-armored.

Different people use them in different ways, of course, but I like to have a spark in my head for each scene to give me an idea of how I can add a twist to each interaction of the game. When I play, I take all 3 words and then fit one of them into the story when I can.

The grid is designed to (generally) be a set of "verb-noun-adjective." That way, if you are asking a specific question ("What is he doing?" or "What does the object look like?"), you can choose the word with the proper part of speech for your answer.

I played this solo using the procedures from Thousand Empty Light and had an amazing time. I'll admit that the story didn't end well for my character, but those are usually my favorite solo games anyway.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! You are absolutely right about both points: a selection of endings would be interesting, and I was limited by the page count. I actually wrote this as a submission for a magazine that had a word limit. It did not get accepted, so I published it this way. I have half a mind to expand it to a zine one day, adding both more endings and more player agency. Today is not that day.

The Deep Longing Mind Tremor is a hunter. When it catches the scent of nostalgia, it will stop at nothing to devour it. The Tremor is patient, though, and it will wait as long as it needs to in order to catch its prey at their most vulnerable. When it does, it burrows into its target's brain and drinks of that sweet nostalgia until it is bloated with deep longing. When it leaves, its prey can no longer remember that for which it was nostalgic, and searching for those memories brings neither joy nor sadness, only emptiness.

Ah, okay. When I tested the module, I made it so the players had no map until they found one. But if it is helpful to have sort of an untouched park map, I have added another page to the Maps file that is essentially what a character would be able to acquire before going into the park. Hope that helps!
