I definitely hear Undertale in this...

Thank you! The playing itself involves alternately holding down the first string on the 4th and 3rd frets, if I'm not mistaken. I wanted to create something more comfortable sounding than just a simple strumming sound. Then I found a preset in Transit 2 and... That's how the second half of the song came about. And I personally think this discovery is absolutely amazing, as is the result.
This is the first time I've ever seen someone go to such trouble to present a song in such an interesting way! It's also interesting that you decided to combine a certain beach laziness with the lightness of the guitar. Of course, I would like to read the lyrics of the song itself, but nevertheless, it's a pleasure to listen to this song.
Kindred - nice homemade atmosphere, again like Undertale (when will you create your own version already?). While I'll never understand the feelings of comfort in other people's hands, I can only imagine them, vaguely.
Strangers - I really liked that you decided to make it in the style of some future-punk metropolises. It's like you're like a ghost moving through crowds of people, looking not at them, but at the neon signs around you.
Enemies - you must have been inspired by Rudyard Kipling's Boots poem (boots, boots boots boots, moving up and down again...). Actually, it's quite revealing: all that horror and disregard for everything in the world, just to cover a couple more living corpses for the sake of a millimeter of territory.
And Self is like a mountain in the middle of a clearing, where everyone around you is listening to niche mainstream, K-pop and the like, and you are the only one against such an army of zombies listening to, for example, rock. And not just any rock, but unusual, for example, The King Of Limbs by Radiohead. Don't give a shit about your opinion, you don't like it, so shut up and listen to your shit, I'll listen to mine.
As always, you're on top of your game :)
Honestly, I envisioned paranoia in a musical style differently. Something like the original Breaking Bad soundtrack at particularly tense moments. But I can see that you tried to convey that fear and uncertainty through the ambiguity of the composition itself, but for me personally, that effect didn't work much, it still sounds pretty kickass. I'm not judging, maybe that was the intention.
I really liked that you decided to choose this particular side, I was counting on this kind of thinking. Yes, I agree, even though humans are social beings, it's a living hell to be in a society. Remembering the quote “kill or be killed”. Or there is a third option - do not show up at all, so that your existence is not known to all. Yes, it's easy, it's peaceful, but it's painful in its own way.
I like that it's more like the soundtrack to some pixelated RPG, like the old Pokémon games. You wander around, here and there, through dark locations, just like the cover of your work. The songs don't oblige you to do anything. They're just there, playing somewhere in the background while something is happening. Maybe something scary, maybe something strange. They accompany you. Good job!
Actually, this is an appropriate use of AI that I can approve of. I like the jazzy mood of the song; it feels more like a song from a Disney musical, which makes it more enjoyable to listen to. It creates a certain dissonance, adding backing vocals in the second verse to everything else. I am extremely glad that such songs are being created here :)
Of course! Especially after playing Baldurs Gate 3 now and wasting another dozen of my nerves, I'd be only too happy to speak out :)
Crowned Evil: was written before the jam started, but when I had already signed up for it, I was confident in this song. It's basically a solid sequencer I picked up with my Nexus 5. At first, I had this simple tune that plays at the beginning. But after poking around in my beloved Transit 2, I discovered an interesting preset that creates a wildly surreal distortion that plays in the track. To top it all off, I added BEAM so that there were partials in the background of the overall sound, which brought even more edgy notes of surrealism to the forefront. The theme of this track is rather more political. When you believe in someone who will lead you to a bright future, giving you hope, but in the end, he becomes a marasmus whose ambition is to prove something to others, spitting on the resources used in the process.
Drowning Mountain: this is a purely personal song, on which I tried to put my vocals, but alas, I still can't sing... This song has a second name: "Mountain of Drowned Ones". Both of these names are metaphors, but they have different meanings in the eyes of the listeners. While the first one represents a sinking mountain, the second one represents a mountain of drowned corpses, and that's what I meant. Drowned at the bottom of the mountain of people who are dragging the rest of the world with them, trying to look like normal people, not drowned people. They beg for a second chance, that they will reform, but it will never happen, and if it does, then clearly not anytime soon. Why try for the sake of those who are doomed? It's pointless.
As for the composition of the song, I didn't bother too much and, having found a suitable sound, I picked up 4 midi files, thus dividing the song into parts. Since everyone was actively using violins and other instruments, but not electronics, then I decided to add violins throughout the song, which emphasized the sadness of the song and synthesator which for some reason unknown to me starts to play with some kind of delay, which I was also extremely excited about.
And as for the ending, that happened by accident. Seriously. I didn't even realize that this effect (from the same Transit 2, by the way) would so clearly fit the theme of the song, I just didn't think about it. It was just "wow, that's extremely cool, I want to do that!" and thats it! But anyway, I'm amazed at myself and how I can surprise even myself with such tricks.😅
That's just the way it is!
Thank you so much! Let me start by saying that the quote is my own and reflects what I've seen for at least 3 years. Indeed, mankind is really sliding into some kind of abyss.
Secondly, honestly, it's not that I intentionally chose that particular chord in question. I just picked a couple of MIDIs so that everything sounds in the general tone😅
And actually, you're the first one who likes Drowning Mountain better, because it's the first song that takes all the attention. Anyway, thanks again for such a review!
