Does it eventually become a paint by numbers game, or is it entirely text based?

I'd love it if someone could make a playthrough... I have NO CLUE how to progress in some areas
did I miss something or are there no instructions?

maybe optional clues? the puzzle aspect was fun and i enjoyed the process of figuring it out. arrows might make things too easy

love the game, would be nice to add some hints... I got stuck more times than I'd like to admit
so I may have wandered off to the edge of the game... i thought i'd just loop back around :'(
