[SPOILERS]

Just played this game today and i think its really cool! Saw this was part of a game jam but i didnt participate on it, so i guess my review is a first review not from the game jam participants.

I like to think that Solstice's design (yellow hair and the black clothes) wasn't something that she originally wanted but it was her parents that wanted her to look that way.

I thought for a moment that Solstice just used some materials to paint her hair post mid game lol. But jokes aside, I'd like to know more about her being a angel from heaven and what else she can do (even though she doesnt have powers, she still can change her hair with angel powers thing?)

SH-170's design reminds me of Robo-Ky from Guilty Gear! (expect without a sword)

Didn't expect the game to be abit long, played around 9 am and finished with around 2 hours. (which i thought would go longer and if that were the case, i'd appreciate the game having a save system, not saying like it needed one during the game jam, but more a feature after the game jam since there is no deadline)

It was confusing at first, specially in the intro where when you go down, it felt endless (like, without walls, when I finally arrived at the first rock, it took a while for SH-170 to arrive at the rock, leaving the game paused for a while.

I like the theme of Solstice feeling regret for not pursuing her goals because their parents's suggestions (which, in Solstice mind, felt like a order) which is something relatable to alot of people.

There were some weird bugs, one notably that i saw is the wooden house thing somehow disappeared after it got introduced (post cutscene of the house introduction)

Here's a few screenshots that i took (theres more that i took but, being only able to select one file at the time on itch.io comment section is going to take a while, so i only selected a few):

Overall, really cool game! I wonder what happened to Sophie (not sure if i got her name right) after the world got destroyed.

EKLSN, one of the programmers of the game, told me about it!

A great game!

I liked that you could sacrifice your cards for a train boost, making you vulnerable but complete the level faster or using it for self defense.

Although, im not sure if its a bug but, in the last card, im always able to restore HP due to that card drawing always if there is no more cards. But if i burn it, i no longer receive any cards and im not sure if thats intentional or not.

Anyways, good game!

A cool rhythm game! Music rhythm games are one of my favorite types of games because of Friday Night Funkin  and it's nice to see one in the game jam!

There is a bug that when you press W or S, it doesnt show the indicator that it got pressed, only on the up and down directions buttons.

Although, i didn't understand about the unrealiable narrator since he seems like a nice narrator that ins't lying to the player at any moment in the game.

If you're going to update this game in the future, i'd like to see new features, like:

  • Time progress bar
  • Effects when you hit a note (fruit, like it slowly fading away)
  • Combo bar (how many you hit without missing)
  • and etc!

Would like to see more updates to this game in the future and i'd like to play it again too!

Cool game!

I think it would've been better if the firefighters's extinguish ability were radius instead of one single square. For example, after clicking a fire square to extinguish, it would also clear the fire around the square, like a square of 9 blocks radius ish.

something like this. Imagine the middle square is the fire

There were moments that somehow, the firefighter would get stuck in this place.

But overall, it's a good game!

Amazing game!

While i didn't understand why the consume theme for this game, after reading the submission page, i understood that it was more of metaphorically instead of literally.

But damn dude, the game makes you feel like a monster that is doing this just because you're believing what the amulet curse saying without second thoughts. Seeing that there is even options to lie about that you killed someone is insane and really reminded me of Undertale's Genocide route, expect this time, is more if you lie to hide what you did from others or tell the cruel truth that you're a monster.

I saw it was possible to combine attacks but, the only one i got was punch and the amulet and unfortunately.

In the intro, maybe the options for the move and people should appear after the first fight is finished since it confused me abit and i thought it was doing something when i clicked on them when the cutscene was playing.

I think it's insane but, the fact the wife still heals after you defeat her is well, screwed up and not sure if it's intentional since there is no dialogue differences.

damn

While Kanoshi sprite is weird compared to the other characters (even in the start), i think slowly, it fitted him since he was becoming more of a monster slowly.

I lost around 65 of health due to David constantly grabbing me in the first fight (literally Street Fighter 3 Alex lol)

I know im probably overthinking this but, when Kanosis was talking in the library, didn't Alice heard his conversation? Not sure how big the library is but, if it's like small, i thought it was weird for her to not heard it. (unless Kanosis was whispering or something)

I really want to see this game get updates after the game jam and like to see the new endings, and i'd like to know more about the story too, like how did theses people got infected or something and how come when Kanosis fought the people at the mansion wasn't infected or something. (and how Kanosis didn't get infected)

Just incredible! It's even incredible that this is your first game jam!

Cool game!

I liked the mechanic that you had to press CTRL to reduce the darkness from consuming while defeating enemies.

However, i feel like the game's mechanics are spammable without downsides.

For example, the CTRL button could have a delay to when the player is able to attack again, like 1 second or 2 seconds, preventing him from being able to spam CTRL to being in a safe ish position to shockwave the darkness.

Still, nice game.

Nice game!

I liked how the controls were simple and the more you consume, the less time you have to decide if you consume or spit!

About the mouth opening after consuming, i think that maybe it's abit unfair for the next item's visibility be affected by the animation. (like, you can only see abit of it and have to wait for the mouth to fully open again) This could be troublesome in moments where you have 200 or 300 scores (like, very small time to react)

Overall, good game!

This is a fun game!

At first, i lost at around wave 7 because i didnt read the instructions (literally just ignored the second option lol) but after reading it, i managed to beat the game on the second attempt!

It felt satisfying killing multiple enemies using the slash attack!

It's abit unfortunately that there's no music.

Here's some feedback about your game:

  • There is a bug where for some reason, when you end with a card select from the previous wave, its still active when you end turn
  • I think adding a shadow outline to the direction type attacks from enemies would be better to be able to see it when there is red areas
  • Adding keyboard support, like be able to use numbers as a shortcut to select the cards would been nice

Overall, cool game that i'd like to see more in the future!

peak end screen

I liked the animation and art style!

Unfortunately, it's not playable due to the window screen being way too small in the web.

But, if it gets fixed after the game jam is over, i'd like to play it again!

Enjoyed playing this game!

The intro when the character enters feels like Undertale and the bullet hell obstacles too! Not only that but i enjoyed the pixel art and the music style too!

Seeing the dash button (X) not getting any purity bar when you hit a blue enemy felt like it was more of a escape button rather than a alternative attack for gaining purity.

I think being able to restore health during gameplay would've been nice.

Really liked the game and would like to play it again in case it gets more updates after the jam!

Nice game!

I liked that the main organism has a sort of that forces you to be patience instead of being fast. This happened more when i got caught by a obstacle, trying to complete the level more faster but resulting me in lose more early at a level. (specially occured on level 3)

I liked that on the level 4 it had a rock music and got surprised when the boss actually moved outside of the spawn, that caught me out of guard.

I completed 4 levels and didnt complete level 5 (not sure how many levels are there in the game) and the objective of the game got abit confusing at the beginning since i didnt read the description first.

Nice game! I liked that you could sacrifice your health for attack boost and the dark fantasy medieval theme!

Unfortunately, i couldn't see the rest of the text in the menu due to it being past the book and when the stats gets too high, it overlaps with the other text.

I saw that the story was W.I.P and in case this games gets updates after the game jam, i'd like to play the game again and see what happens in the story!

If you participate in another game jam next time, i'd recommend making the game playable on web first since its easier to play on. (like, just play on run button instead of downloading and it can get more users too)

But overall, I think with some polishes, this can be a great game!

I liked the game's 3D art style!

I got confused as to what's the game main objective. Once i consumed most of the food (i think), another food appeared with glasses and i wasnt sure what to do since for some reason i couldn't consume him.

By the way, my first impression to the game cover was Megumi's hand gestures to summon his divine dogs!

Interesting game and concept!

I feel like that the difficulty increases too much on the next level and should've reduced the daily nutrients goal to just one meter. (or be able to retry the same level)

I'm not sure if it's a bug but, for some reason the last check item from the second level just doesn't appear and that happened twice. ( i increases the live amount to unlimited to check if i was missing something but i think i was wrong. In this screenshot, it says while not eat anything made by the hill, all of the remaining items are by The hill.)

But that aside, i think the game concept of checking products details to consume a healthy diet is really cool!

This is awesome!

I loved the theme of consuming paleozoic animals and the music feels like one that you hear in restaurants!

Surprised to see a godot 3.6 game!

Really liked how the tv does the opposite gestures if the item is good or bad!

Nice game, kinda wish there was a explanation about how the mana system works what the orange bar does.

Liked the game, would have liked a instruction screen too.

I liked the weird art style of monster being like mouths with teeths!

Not sure if it's a bug but for some reason, i can't use the last card on the enemies, making me have to consume the card and pass the turn

Really enjoyed the game!

The game seems grinding at first (i attempted to collect every item at the beginning but, once i realized that the discount gives extra SP points, i focused on getting the sale items)

Didn't expect consume theme be linked to consumerism which i think it's really clever!

One small complain would be that while running and you jumped in the air, if you were to turn around while in the air (go to the opposite side), it wouldn't lose momentum of the run (only losing speed if on the ground), making it easier to avoid the mirrors on the ground but other than that, good game!
