The Rose Garden trilogy has gotten me into a lot of hot water. Now Patreon is having themselves another purge. I just have to put that series to bed, or it's going to be the death of me. I hate this, but it's what I need to do to survive.
I'm just sitting here in shock and dismay wondering how this is even legal. I can't conduct business because the middlemen who control the flow of money won't allow me to make transactions. I mean, that's crazy, right?

itch.io is no longer allowing adult games to be sold through them. Other developers selling their games on itch.io are selling direct which means all their transactions go directly through PayPal. PayPal does not allow the sale of adult material, so many of those people are having their PayPal accounts shut down.

itch.io doesn't seem to want to be financially tied to adult games anymore. I'm not sure what the story is behind this decision, but it means I can't host my work here anymore. Sorry for the inconvenience, Joker.
I might circle back to it one day. There's plenty more of Myrabelle and Xianne to enjoy in the intros and outros of my other games though. Xianne is a hoot!

I understand. Patreon and SubscribeStar are my only options right now, so I rely on them almost entirely for income. I know a lot of people want to buy a game once and be done with the transaction process, however there are no places I can currently sell some of my work. I'm truly sorry about this. It's something entirely out of my control.
A quick Google search brought up the process for cancelling a Patreon subscription. But yes, you have to pay again for every update. It's only a couple dollars, and you can always wait until a game is finished, then subscribe, grab the game, and cancel. Currently on my Patreon, you can get three complete games for $3. It's an absolute steal.
This is just the world we live in right now. Companies are going to tell you what you're allowed to enjoy. All we can do is fight the good fight and push back however we can.
Usually you'll find an artist elsewhere and they will lead you to their Patreon. The actual website, Patreon, doesn't do a great job of letting creators showcase what they're working on, and they don't have a way to browse artists.
I'm pretty sure Friendship with Benefits is a My Little Pony adult parody game. It actually did very well on Steam. So much so that I believe they're working on a sequel.
Advertising isn't something most of us can afford, so it is a very niche market. itch.io used to be a friendly place where adult creators could showcase their works. They've recently become more hostile towards us. There are some pirate sites that can introduce you to new works, but they're essentially stealing from creators.
Yeah, it's a tricky situation. I don't know that I have a great recommendation on how to search Patreon for great artists. The only suggestion I can make is to look at https://graphtreon.com/top-patreon-creators/adult-games. That'll show you the top adult gaming creators. Sadly, I'm not in the top 50.
They certainly had the option to reach out to me and we could have worked something out. Whatever the issue was, I would have been happy to compromise. Sadly enough, they're not the only ones to mistreat people who work with adult content. It's very common.
There are three games in the series. A Petal Among Thorns and A Moment of Bliss are both complete, and they're about 5 - 8 hours long each. The third game in the series, Over the Moon, is currently in development. You can get all my works by subscribing to my Patreon or SubscribeStar. I know a lot of people have issues with Patreon, but they've been one of the few platforms that haven't hassled me about my work. Yet.

Censorship is constantly increasing these days. I have no doubt that they're going to tighten the belt even further, as are all other platforms. The safest route would be to stop making adult content altogether. I haven't decided to go that far yet, but the thought has certainly crossed my mind. We just have to push back as a community, and do everything we can to stop censorship from taking away our freedom to enjoy what we want to enjoy in fantasy stories.
Unfortunately you cannot change that one. I didn't want to overwhelm the player with too many inputs. Sorry, Drakenvan. If the world wasn't so prudish and controlling, we could enjoy things the way they are supposed to be.
