I’m certain I selected "Load" to open my save file, but when I clicked on it, a prompt popped up asking if I wanted to overwrite the previous save

I really like this game, so I downloaded it to my PC to play. However, every time I save and exit, then try to resume playing, clicking on my save file triggers a prompt asking if I want to overwrite it. This forces me to start over after playing for just a few days.
