Eh, should have went for classical 2d doom style pixelated enemies with reference sprites. I guess you or someone else can draw, so it shouldn't be a problem making pixel art besides maybe programming a bit. 3d models are a heavy load for a single solo dev, unles you have too much free time. Even horror games here on itch as 3d retro games use simple simple animations. One has to understand one can only do so much alone. Ashes 2063 devs made 3d models it seems to make 2d pixelated sprites, so one could also do that.
ahahaahahaah you absolute maniac, i have never seen anyone putting a whole chess game as a minipuzzle anywhere. I love the full eerie and panic mode atmosphere. Hard puzzles do contribute to a nightmarish feeling. My only criticism is that maybeee you exagerated with them. Like sure, maybe you did it to keep away normies. But for example there is no way I could have solved the Knight's tour puzzle without writing a code to do so, it's way too random and excrutiatingly difficult to guess right 24 moves. The moving card one was fun. No idea how to solve the cross with bottles one, with "colours" as clue. I guess one must make every square the same colour? Also the puzzle with two squares one red, one gray confused me quite a bit. I managed to make the left square entirely red, but that's not the goal? No idea what to do there. Anyway I absolutely love and hate this game at the same time, but I am afraid I will never finish it. Too much trouble. If you had introduced some sort of growing difficulty thing to train the player a little bit, that would have been interesting
