I had this issue but managed to fix it by temporarily disabling my windows Security Real Time protection setting, hope this helps
For the forts issue you just have to put your brush size to the max and go all around it.
Yeah Its should have a toggle to make the castle invisible like you can by clicking the name of the castle so you can have access to the tiles under it
