All hail the Rat King!

I'm glad you liked it. I like your game, too.

I'll take a look and try to figure it out.

Thanks for the kind feedback. I'd have loved to flesh out the music but I had only seconds left to submit it.

What's the theme for Subtractive Jam?

I'm pretty sure it's just meant to look and somewhat function like a terminal. It doesn't have to be a literal system terminal.

Considering that the rules are very restricive, it would have made far more sense to have provided a template for the game. There will be so many redundant elements in every submission that I'm wondering how different each one will be. Aside from different kinds of movement abilities and enemies there seems not to be any way of being creative. Why restrict the way you can kill an enemy to only one? Even "simple" platformer games from almost 40 years ago allow for different ways to defeat enemies (Mario can stomp, throw fire balls etc.).

What is meant by the theme "Primary"?

Am I free to interpret it in any way or is it e.g. related to the color palette?

Perhaps ct.js is a good choice. While you do need to write a few lines of code here and there, most is explained very thoroughly in their tutorials and a lot of the development is visual.

Thanks for the feedback. I may make a sequel some time in the future.

Can it also be a web-based text game?

It doesn' fit the theme perfectly but I really really liked the vibe of this one.

This is really fun! I like that the score is displayed as the background.

This is a really pretty game. I like the simple yet fun change in perspective.
