I'll perhaps change it back later then, most people seem to enjoy the larger enemy images and more focus on what you are battling itself.

As you develop in your comment; it would go from one static image to three, and then to a potentially infinite number. The artwork I'm getting isn't free - and I'd rather focus on 'actiony' stuff that draws attention first and foremost!

I'm not sure if Gargoyle runs on android, and the other interpreter I know for it doesn't display images if I recall.

Yeah, just small bugfixes - didn't want to make a new post for each one since I had only made the normal post like 10 or so hours prior.

As for the code import, do you mean the old method I said I had to abandon because it wasn't working or the 'hardsave' method that makes a file? The file one should work, though the code one is completely broken and doesn't save variables correctly for some reason.

Yup, though just as an update I'm having some trouble getting the new save system to work for the demo release - so unfortunately folks might be stuck with just getting cheat-codes for clearing the demo until I can work it out properly.

With the code it skips those, with the new system you'll be able to keep them.

Its a code that let's you skip the first half of the game, so that you don't have to replay it again.

However, I'm close to releasing a version that has this feature built in (due to Inform wonkiness, 'saves' aren't actually a real thing in the traditional sense. Instead I had to code an entire save function myself from scratch). This will allow you to save progress, and for older versions without the feature - will temporarily feature a passcode that kind of almost works (at least enough to port older versions to the new version).

As for the post-grapple victory scenes, there are a few things like that in the full version - though its definitely not every enemy. Not including enemies that can be found in the first half of the game there are three, including them - its five.

I could probably do that (though the UI would be absolutely clustered and bloated as a result), though that would likely come when there is more artwork.

If you are referring to the cyber-dog, it only has three grapple stages. It should repeat the final stage until you break free or lose the fight!

I appreciate the report,  however! ^.^

(1 edit)

There has been a Discord for a very long time now, the link to which can be found in the game in the about section and in previous update posts here! Please let me know if it isn't working.

It should be fixed, uploaded a fix as soon as you let me know.

Please let me know if its still the wrong hyperlink!

Thanks!

Yeah, I don't think 'pulling the rug' as it were with the current version would help any (though maybe?), but future versions will definitely be pay-walled. I already put up the Subscribestar version on here for 4USD, so we'll see if that helps!

I really appreciate it. Since putting out that absolutely massive update, the 1.5 one, I've actually lost supporters (I can't even figure how) - so anything I can get helps, though obviously a consistent and decent stream of revenue is needed to continue the project. I've put up the subscribestar version on here for 4USD - so you should be able to download it (I have no idea how itch.io works in that regard).

And yeah, given how much larger the second half is than the first - I definitely should've done something like that. Hopefully I can salvage things, get them back on track, and then just not make the mistake next time.

"naldev, i can say with confidence that all a paywall would do is annoy people and get it leaked on sites like kemonoparty."

Lucky for you I wasn't planning on 'pulling the rug' and making what is already freely available pay-walled, I was simply going to abandon the project and make sure the next isn't. I can't not earn money, and working on a game is a massive time commitment.

"just a question have you thought of running a minor ad campagin to make people more aware that your product exists? its not a lot but f59zone and e621 lets people pay to run ads..."

Paying for ads would take a lot of money. I would not only have to pay for the ad space, but also hire an artist to help make artwork for the ad itself. I simply don't have that kind of money, and the money this game rakes in is not even enough to pay for a week's worth of meals - let alone artwork and ad space.

"alternatively a commision of nal in the middle of some peril from the game uploaded to e621 with a link to the main page and a small blurb would likely be a better ad then any banner ad if you word things right and hit some popular keywords."

I already did this over a month ago, I put down a couple hundred on not only art to advertise on e621 (you can easily find that art by looking up avali tentacles on the site), but also on artwork for some of the enemies in the game. All its done is drain my finances. I saw an uptick in views, but I have not gained any more support for the game. I don't think people realize how expensive stuff is, as I've spent more on this game than I've gotten from it.

"sorry if any of this comes off as awful. im just trying to help all i have is my brainpower... well whats left of it."

I appreciate the thought.

I'm not sure if any of that is possible either. Bear in mind that Inform as an engine has nothing built into it as far as templates or the like. All the RPG mechanics I had to make myself from scratch - this isn't like RPGmaker. Multiple enemies are certainly not programmed in.

Inter-battle effects would be extremely hard to code within Inform, so it was just meant as an extra little bit to put at the end of that battle should Nal succumb to the drone in the fight itself.

Maybe in the future, though I could try to do something with it.

Gargoyle is an IF player (a program that runs Interactive Fiction files, such as those produced by the Inform7 engine). It is required to be installed to see graphics (which with the new areas is essential), however its a relatively light download.

Yeah, was not a fun couple of days.

It was, thankfully.

I had to buy a whole new computer.

Thanks!

Appreciate it!

Thanks, I'm really trying to keep motivation and drive to see it through despite everything.

Appreciate the comment.

At this point in time I don't have any plans for that. It should be noted that (canonically) avali biology means that its kind of a moot point as well.
