This game feels extremely polished for a gam jam entry! The atmosphere is great, the tutorial blends extremely well with both the gameplay AND the narrative! Well done on that part. I also love the simplicity of the controls and the minimal UI. I think holding the current item is a great choice, much better than having an inventory or just another UI element.
MINOR SPOILER WARNING!
My only complaint is that the ending feels a tiny bit rushed. I didn't understand how much time the time machine reversed and feel like it would be better to have the ending text display while still having the game screen as background (maybe even with character movement) instead of plain black. Also, maybe make the ending narrative a bit more explicit. I get that it leans into the mystery theme of it all, but I felt that I did not get 100% of the ending, with no place to get an explanation.
Great job nonetheless!!
Pretty cool game. The art feels really polished and the gameplay is satisfying. I loved that it is balanced in favour of the player, so it feels relaxing and not stressful. You can take your time and you will always progress, but your skill determines how fast you do so. Hope we get more of it! Good job!
Pretty cool game, I managed to get both achievements. The fog mechanic is really interesting and I really like that you need a fully connected track to reveal tiles, so you can't just slam random pieces to reveal the map. Nice concept overall, I think it has the potential to become a full short game, with a couple new track pieces/mechanics (bridges/tunnels maybe?). Solid effort overall
Very well-made. The rope mechanic is extremely smooth. Did not encounter a single bug or inconsistency in m completionist run. Graphics are smooth, progress is satisfying (maybe a bit too fast even, I think rare types shouldn't be so close to the starter ones) and the music is fitting. Also, the bigger fish being too fast and smart for smaller ropes instead of having the typical "You need equipment level 5 to catch this" makes for a very smooth experience.
Awsome job overall, really polished for 72 hours! Would love to see this turn into a full game <3
Interesting approach, it was fun and I completed it twice. Although there are 2 major bugs with gold abuse. For one it's the duplication glitch that a couple people mentioned below. Another is this:
Step 1) You buy any spell and drag it to your loop
Step 2) You drag it into the bottom shop bar (sell) and get it's sell value
Step 3) You drag from the bottom into the upper shop bar and get it's sell value again
Repeat steps 2-3 for infinite money
The concept is not bad, but the execution is truly lacking. Monsters not having HP bars is really frustrating, especially since some seem to disappear and fail the level for no apparent reason. Also, the loops are buggy and sometimes don't "close" to deal damage when they should (playing with mouse). The art is really nice, but the lack of monster animations makes them seem like PNGs ripped off the internet
Really satisfying gameplay loop! It's a shame you didn't have time to finish it, but that "Loop Breached" into shutting down the game and resetting progress is very annoying. I wanted to try and get all the upgrades, just to see what they do. I'd truly appreciate it if you uploaded a version where you can play as many loops if you want, even if you don't add any new content
Quite satisfying game loop. The problems I see are:
a) With just length level 4, I was able to collect the entire square with one loop
b) The flashing of gems spawning & auto-collecting is quite painful on the eyes
c) Auto-collect removes the core gameplay mechanic (lasso). Maybe the upgrade should be really expensive, so you can only auto-collect gems 2-3 ranks below your newest one
d) It lacks any distinct game mechanic. Maybe add a multiplier for multiple gems connected in one loop, or some bombs to avoid(could get annoying)
