Sorry about the harsh post. ':D Re-reading it I see that it seems very negative, and I tried editing it, but itchio wouldn't apply my edit. xD So it "remained too negative". I really did give it a good try to make it appear more positive in the "post edit", which wouldn't update. ':D

About the "bodycam postprocessing", I didn't mean the default body cam postprocessing. THAT looks great, and should be there to make a good body cam game. :). What I mean, is when moving the mouse, there is a blur and a additional "warp effect" happening (best way I can describe it)... ONLY when moving the mouse... And that gets nauseating. :|

I would also like to add, that after getting so far as to pick up the gun, the smooth movement made sense, since it was clearly there to support the "gun in hand" movement, which looks absolutely great btw. ^^

I still need to "run my mouse 3 times across my mouse pad", to turn 180... But hopefully once I have tried the demo fully, there won't be a moment that require a 180 turn. :) For now, I'll increase the DPI as you suggested, while trying this build. :)

Thanks for not taking the first post personally, as it definitely came out more negative than I meant for it to be. ':D

Sorry to use a word like "horrendous" in the title. ':D But I want to add a bit of important feedback, in regards to the settings when pressing [Esc], as well as the "realism" of how looking around in game feels...

SETTINGS MENU:

Having the hand holding the tablet move constantly, makes it near impossible to adjust some of the settings. So seeing that you can't adjust the settings using your keyboard, and instead HAVE to use your mouse, makes it extremely frustrating to adjust everything.

For example toggling Vertical Sync is hard, because of the constantly moving tiny box, that you gotta repeatedly try and hit with your cursor... And the same goes for the rest of the settings. Maybe add keyboard functionality, if you don't have plans of changing the hand constantly moving? :)

Also, mouse sensitivity is WAAAAYYY too low, even when maxed out in the settings. :/ It needs to at least be twice as fast, to be somewhat comfortable.

LOOKING AROUND:

I understand that this is a "realistic body cam" game, and trust me, I have played my fair share of them... But while some things are done in order to "appear realistic", they can also get uncomfortable during gameplay. Most "realistic body cam" games struggle with how looking around in-game is handled, and it is typical to see them borderline being "too realistic", to the point where you get nausea playing the game...

When booting up the game for the first time, I noticed that there is an "effect" added, when moving the mouse, where everything "warps"... Almost as if a "drunk filter" is activated... And this gets EXTREMELY sickening unfortunately. :/ This effect should either be removed asap, or have a toggle option in the settings menu. And I'm not the type to get motion sick hehe.

Secondly, moving the mouse to look around, has EXTREME smoothing applied... And adding that on top of the already MUCH too low mouse speed options, it means you gotta drag the mouse across the mouse mat 3 times, in order to do a 180 degree turn... Which feels even worse with the mouse smoothing.

Don't take this as critique, but as feedback. :) I love games like this, and want to be able to play them, without getting nausea.

That all being said... I only just booted up the game for the first time, so I will try and fight the nausea to give it a proper go. :)

I think this might be my favorite protoype ever played, simply because you know how to handle atmosphere and "something never before seen" so incredibly well. :)

The gun mechanic is INCREDIBLY immersive, although a bit nauseating after a while. A few tweaks to the gun movement, and I can tell I wouldn't get motion sick in the same way.

I played both Wrong Floor and From the Darkness, and now this one...

I LOVED Wrong Floor because it stayed close to "realism horror", which felt much more relatable. :) "What if you were trapped in the basement with a maniac". Really cool short game!

I immediately bought From the Darkness on Steam, when I realized Wrong Floor had been taken further into a full game. I was a bit disappointed though... :/ Still a great game, but MUCH more supernatural than Wrong Floor, which broke the immersion quite a bit. Had hoped for "realism horror" again.

My point here is to say that I love the concepts that you are throwing out. They are absolutely unique, creative, and MILES above other horror titles out there. I just really hope they stay on the more "relatable realism" side of things, since I wholeheartedly believe that makes for a more terrifying experience. :)

Wauw... With Itchio games you expect a certain "indie quality", and games within the pixelated horror genre usually feel like copy/paste of one-another...

But this was really something different.

Although the visual style is like most other pixel horrors... It is obvious how much polish went into the development, and how much care went into the story.

This is how you develop a 10/10 indie game. VERY well done. :)

Love the game. :) But just a heads up for the devs... When downloading the game for the first time, if you off the bat click "Continue" instead of "New Game", it seems to take you to a save where the game is completed.
