Sorry, the instructions could perhaps be a little clearer.. The countdown keeps going down because you have to make it to the record label at the end before they close! My intent was its a race to the end of the level, regardless of the beat, but its good feedback. Perhaps it might nice if you stay on the beat the countdown slows down or stops. Thanks again for playing and leaving a comment :)

Hi, thanks for giving the game a try! Yes, jumping or starting movement in a direction when the loop indicator reaches the top should do it (It should turn green or yellow and you should hear a bass note). Another indicator you can use is when you hear the lowest note of the arpeggio in the backing track.

Thanks for taking a look! For what its worth, there is a Mac build linked to the game page for giving the game a shot! Unfortunately, the Godot engine had issues with a certain kind of audio recording feature that prevented me from getting a web playable version up. Hopefully after the jam I can look at getting a version up to try!
