We published a tweaked version, fixing most known issues. Maybe now it is more playable.

Thank you so much for the review video!

The review is indeed very helpful.

I can understand the criticism and should we iterate on the game post-jam we will definitely work it into the game.

Thank you again for playing our game! Much appreciated!

I think my mistake was I didn’t stop moving in order to decrease the cooldown. Now I found out!

Good basis for a clicker game. Even tho all assets are self made – and that’s cool – I would wish for less repetitive background music an a grindy game.

Simple core loop (similar to ours). Very nice to have little objects with effect in the game to give it some twists (leaf to hide, knife to fight). Everyone knows crabs can handle knifes effectively. Very well done in such short time!

Very original core game loop! Very easy at first, not very forgiving either.

The game allows for great ways to scale the difficulty, just by increasing the similarity of other crabs to one’s own! Very creative game design.

Smart decision for a short time project, really allows to be expanded upon later!

Great little story game! Very fun to play!

A very effective use of the core loop, which everyone knows, but very nicely implemented!

EDIT: I don’t see one reason why a crab wouldn’t use a rope to lower itself to such reach such treasures.

Simon says, but for crabs. Very essential step in a crab’s formal education. I’m sure the Council of Crabs would agree.

Very simple core loop, but effective. I would wish I could progress more.

An original take on a platformer! I couldn’t make it far, but I think the amount of work that got done in such a short time is impressive for this entry.

Very artistic interpretation of the theme! For that short time, the core loop is quite complex, but well implemented!

Feels like space invaders, but with a boss in the middle. A concept that can be expanded! Good results for this short time of development!

It’s a hard crab’s life for us. Reminds me a bit of parking the car backwards in games. Always a stressful moment.

Lovely passive game, now I don’t have to buy a real aquarium, I can just run that on my living room TV ;)

EDIT: also i love the UI barnacles! (* they are technically crabs themselves)

Great idea with lots of potential. I’m imagining different levels with the beach goers locations hard coded and a few more stones! I love the idea of the little crab going for the beach goers belongings! It feels always nice if I can play the bad guy. I could never really make it to sell a wallet, the humans always got me first for some reason and I tried a few times.

Great core loop! I wish it had more levels and was easier for me.

Great game, feels polished and fun!

Nice core mechanic: combining drawing and timing. It was a bit hard for me. Otherwise a nice little core loop!

I kind of had the feeling the coconuts were a bit too much for the little crab to handle! But not the bananas, very intuitive in that regard.

I wasn’t quite sure if I had to snatch the bananas mid air or if I should stand directly under it.

Amazing core mechanic! I’m loving these three different aspects:

  1. Forgivingness: if one doesn’t cut perfect first time, one has still some chance, but has to concentrate more! Very dynamic and original!

  2. At your own risk: one can evade (low risk) or attempt to give the balloon (risk of being touched too). Coming close to the other crabs at the right moment decides over failure and success.

  3. Geometrically scales: dividing the line or changing its length naturally scales the game difficulty only using simple division and multiplication. Amazing for its simplicity!

Great story, acts as an amazing hook. Who doesn’t want to see the little crabby use the 3D printer.

Amazing pico visuals and game feels very smooth!

I love the overall setup!

Great visuals for such a short time!

Amazing puzzle mechanic. Crabs only walk sideways, everyone knows that for a fact.

Works perfectly now! Even in browser. You made a very creative game. I like the idea, the art and everything!

That is correct o7

Great game!

I don’t have any improvements, but only wishes. Maybe the game could have controller support or it could have some prominent keys as alternative to the mouse buttons (e.g. Shift and Ctrl for left and right click). Another thing which I would wish for was check points, even in the easy levels. Makes it easier for the motorically uninclined moments of life.

Amazingly well implemented kleptop-mechanic! The music is very fun too. The sound effects are to the point. Especially great is the acoustic slow-down effect on game-over. I wish there was a checkpoint just before some of the lasers, because ’twas quite hard for me to pass them ;_; I loved the game! Great fun!

P.S.: The trigger button on my Xbox controller was like holding the Shfit key down. Not sure if that was intended. But it soft locked the heart inside the glob.

Thank you for the feedback!

The moon was actually about turning off a light switch. We were also thinking about creating an achievement for finishing the final room without turning on the light, but we ran out of time before implementing it.

A second arrow would really help. Noted.

We even planned for most assets to be breakable, but we just ran out of time.

Thank you for your evaluation and comment! Much appreciated!

Very creative game!

I want to point out that linguistically speaking English treats double negatives (e.g. ain’t no, not any, don’t cut no red wire) as emphasis, not as logic!

I got this for your main page ;)

The art looks very clean and I really believe this game is fun later on. So far I did not reach there tho. I want to be stronger and show those beans!

I wish the beans would pop faster in order to give me this typical bubble-wrap feel. I also wish the beans would not spawn in my face so often.

Please keep at it! I love Brotato-esk games!

What an amazing back story! Who does not – secretly – want to be a professional Ransom Noter!?

I had some issues with missing some cuts and with placing some letters where they should go, but otherwise great sounds, music and a very notable core mechanic!

It even touches on the main theme, with a very ironic twist! Great sense of humor!

I would even buy this game in a more refined state! Please keep going!

Thanks for the feedback and thank you for the suggestion too! If we pick up development again we sure will take that into account!

Nice sense of humor!

Beautiful art, beautiful story telling and a bit of humor and also a very clean implementation! At some points in time tho I was hitting invisible walls.

I wish there was more direction to where to go next and the space was a bit more limiting the amount of exploration needed to find out what to do with the pet cube for example.

Surely the main theme is also part of the core game, well done!

Creative way to work the main theme into the lore. It would have been nice to see some intro inside the game which tells about it.

I couldn’t figure out why the seeds did never decrease, I guess the game didn’t get finished yet.

There is a lot of controls to remember beforehand and it would be nice to see some step-wise intro into the mechanics of the game.

I loved that robot guys facial expressions! Very cute and it seemed to like what I was doing or give me the evil face >:D Very original and a bit nostalgic.

After reading the clumsy and a bit lengthy textural intro to the game a few times I could figure out how to play the game actually.

Very nice use of the main theme! On top a very original game!

Amazing little main character! And very good choice of cozy music!

In case one immediately jumps into the first diamond there is a steeper learning curve in the second level ;)

I wish there was more content, but somehow I could not make it past the second level. The diamond did not load the second level. I would have liked to see more!

I can see how this game can be really fun! Sadly I could not get any sound in the web version of the game, maybe because I was not using the hammer correctly. I wish there was more instructions on how to play this game and also less time pressure to figure it out! Otherwise a very original game mechanic and very creative!
