This is an incredibly good game.

I find a lot of modern homebrew projects tend to look and sound good but tend to fall down on gameplay in a big way.

Where modern games design is concerned, there are ups and there are downs, and some modern retro games tend to inherit a lot of the really bad stuff; decisions are often made in alignment with current gaming trends but actively work against what made those original games of the 80s and 90s so good, creating a mess.

Not so here, the gameplay is very much aligned with the era of gaming the c64 represents but enhances it in a big way. This is old school c64 gaming but enhanced with some very forwards thinking games design application, rather than ruined by it.

This is a must have and one of the best c64 games out there. It's clear that this was made with love and understanding, and I urge people to go buy this!

The graphics, sound and music are great, it's one of the best looking games on the system for sure. The sprite animations are absolutely superb.

I'm not a big fan of the "collect the coins" gameplay, I prefer my action games to be a bit more direct and I find that collect-em-up thing distracts me from that somehow.

I also think the characters could do with somewhat more fantasy oriented names than Ryan and Julia.

That criticism aside, and the fact it's a bit on the easy side for my liking (I prefer old-school difficulty), this is shaping up to be a really good game.

I'd definitely buy a physical cart of a game of this quality.
