1: Taking his shoe off isn't going to do shit, since the mine is stuck to his ankle, not his shoe or sock cuff.
2: He cant spin dash because if he did that because he is in Sonic 1, also, if he could spindash, the speed he curl into the ball would be so fast that the mine tears off his foot, to which he would then die of blood loss.
3: Sonic is famous for NOT being able to breath underwater.
