I've had a few good runs, but this is easily the highest score I've gotten so far. This game is a lot of fun, even playing by myself against CPUs - it's a really good way to waste a little free time if I've got a few minutes to spare!

Game completed with the "Success" ending! Yep, this game's just as good now as it was back then. Now to do it all over again and see if I've missed anything - despite knowing all of the Normal Arts, purchasing all of the Hyper Arts, and mastering all of the Super Arts... there's still one more attack that I remember from my TI-83 days. What I don't remember is how to unlock it... but discovery is half the fun!
Thank you for creating Marc the Superkid Quest in the first place, thank you for creating this amazing remaster, and thank you for being one of the best experiences I've had in TI-83 gaming - both back then and now!
Makes sense. Actually, is there a better way to get in touch with you, like Discord or anything? Seems like a bit of a hassle to have a full conversation within Itch's comment section - especially because I've run into a rather... unique problem regarding the Super Arts training. (If you do have Discord, my handle is the same there as it is here.)
Also, not including the hidden inputs is perfectly fine! I didn't think absolutely everything from the original MTSQ would be brought over. Still, glad to hear that even if virtually nobody else remembers this hidden gem, I at least do.
Hey, thanks for the quick response! I'd only recently gotten out of the Hyper-Sim Training Room and was heading out of the starting area. I died near the Save Crystal that's below the house where you learn... Sonic Javelin, I think it was?
I was playing on Easy to ease myself into the game, and it's honestly just as I remember it - you even kept the Arts inputs exactly the same so far! This has been a huge nostalgia trip for me, and I have a feeling it's only going to get better from here.
(P.S. Did you also include the 'one-button' stuff? You know, like scanning enemies and such? If you didn't, that's fine - I just remember randomly stumbling across it during my first playthrough of MTSQ and was curious if you kept it in or not.)
I'm not sure if you'll read this comment, but I'd recently fallen back into a TI-83+ rabbithole. Finding old games that I used to play a lot during my off time in school, Marc the Superkid Quest - True ended up crossing my radar once again. I loved playing that game back then, and learning that you've essentially made a "remastered" version has absolutely made my day. Even if I'm the only person who will ever comment here, that's fine - I just want to make my appreciation known, and to thank you for pouring your time and effort into this game. This will be a free-time killer for me for quite a while yet, I think.
This is actually a pretty clever take on the match-3 genre! I've been playing it off and on, and it's really addicting - I've been slowly learning how to turn unsafe rolls into guaranteed matches by using my shields wisely. Of course, there's still some luck involved, and you can lose a 3/4 good roll four times in a row... but that's just the risk you run, right?
I think the game eventually got tired of me absolutely overpowering it and said "OK, let's crank the enemy speed and spawn rate up continuously until you die."
Still, an excellent game that can provide some really interesting moments at times - at the end, I was playing cards no matter what they were just so Healing Hand could keep me alive for a few more seconds.

I ended up having an absolutely cracked Loot run today that actually got me my first win in the mode (sure, it was on Easy, but still). My selection of blessing/curse 'purchases' this run was exquisite, and a few lucky items (Glass Blade + Silk Cape and Twisted Bar + Two Reeds come to mind, as well as Infinity for Hexia) got me through the entire run with only a couple of deaths (including a mage sacrifice to OHKO Hexia with Infinity). Even got an achievement for beating level 20 in a single turn!
Virtually all of the assets used by this game seem familiar.
Maybe a little too familiar.
Heard of a game called Cave Story, by chance? One of the great indie classics? Originally freeware, but got a few commercial releases later on down the line?
Don't get me wrong, the game's not too terrible, but... well, let's be honest here, you could make your own custom sprites and music and it would still be a decent game. Right?
