Great stuff, very high quality. I love the visuals, like hi-fi retro late 90s, early 00s shooters. Enjoy the conspiracy theory atmosphere. Main character is great. Liked exploring the map, smashing all the boxes etc. Also, appreciate all rifle ammo stacking (instead of 5.56, 7.62 etc).
Only criticisms:

  • Title screen music is weak. Deus Ex-ish but the main melodic line varies too much and makes it forgettable/meandering (you don't forget the Deus Ex theme). In general, the sound and instrumentation of all the music is solid but the composition falls short.
  • As others said: way too easy.
  • Frustrating to interact with things that are 'of no interest'. Might be better you can't interact with them.
  • Can hear footsteps from below ground while inside base.
  • Would like quick melee for boxes.
  • Might be nice if NPCs had indicator for remaining dialog or gave items on first interact. Engineer told me about wrench so I looked all over. Talked to him again and he had it the whole time!

Looking forward to the full release!

Wow, I've never seen that character before. Tons of potential for horror! An abandoned mall, a chaotic kids icon. Reminds me a bit of Poppy Playtime and Five Nights.

Ha, yes that is true, you can't time the market. I do think that swift imitators can get some (small fraction) of a trends success but they will likely be forgotten.

I'm going to focus on making more authentic games.

I actually used Godot 4 instead of the unity engine. Did unity show up somewhere?

Oh, I'll work on making that more clear, it is a bit hard to read.
Ah I see, I'm going to focus on making the loop being more fun and avoid having the player sit around. The projectile machines are definitely too extreme and I plan on replacing that with something more reasonable.
Thanks again!

There's a known issue with windows being suspicious of exes that contain all the game data packed in.
It might also complain about the app being unrecognized and the publisher unknown. This is because the exe is unsigned and I don't currently have a cert to sign it with. You should be able to bypass that by pressing 'more info' -> 'run anyway'
I just re-uploaded a new zip with the game data separated.
Hopefully it shouldn't trigger the anti-virus!

Thank you for the feedback and for playing!
Right now shift does nothing. Only Z (Interact), Space(ability) and Esc(Menu) are active but that's a good point, I'll probably make shift ability also.
It would be super helpful to hear what you felt was bad about the characters or enemies. Do things start out too slowly?
I should have a new demo up in a few weeks. I'll post an update then.

Thanks, re-uploaded as a zip.
