If you've ever wanted to play out stealing from the magical vault of a crazy billionaire who caused massive destruction to the world... this is a great game for you! The rules are light and quick to pick up, you can do as much or as little narration as you want and still have fun, the prompts are evocative and interesting. I like the ability to pick and choose where to assign the dice rolls, giving a bit of control over what happens but still supporting an interesting story. In my first playthrough my character had a very easy time of it, spending very few of her resources and exploring the Ghost paths with a sense of wonder... until it all went sideways very quickly! She made it to the end, cracked the Vault, and restocked her backpack, planning to set back out into the paths to solve the mystery of the frozen lake that kept drawing her back. I will definitely be playing this one again!

Just played this game, and I absolutely loved it! The premise is engaging, the mechanics are simple, I enjoyed it from start to finish. The only thing I might wish for is extended roll tables - I'd love to have even more options for callers and events in the studio.
My Playlist:
Opener - BNL "Odds Are"
They Might Be Giants - "Dr Worm" (caller who believes they can stop the virus that is driving people mad)
Frozen 2 - "Next Right Thing" (government tries to shut down the station, caller who witnessed the end of a loved one.)
Greenday - "American Idiot" (Sponsor Ad - I turned this into a pledge drive push, lol. Caller who didn't believe the news)
Alanis Morisette - "Ironic" (Got a text from a loved one, Caller who is at the end for an unrelated reason)
Alabama Shakes - "Hold On" (People rioting outside the studio, Caller - rival DJ)
and closing it out with, you guessed it, REM "End of the World as we Know It" (said my goodbyes and played the song)
The Narrative Universe TTRPG system is delightful to play! While some game mechanics are similar to DnD, the game is much lighter on rules and facilitates a more narrative playstyle. This base edition includes everything you need to learn, run, and play this system - including directions on how to create your own skills, spells, items, and more! Running games in NU is far less work intensive, and allows for the Narrator (GM) to work in player ideas easily and quickly. Besides all that, Kurtwise has a highly engaging and amusing writing style - the book is worth reading for that alone. I highly recommend picking up this Base Edition!
