A really cute game with a charming story! I like the progression of the ryokan slowly being repaired ^^ Shion is very adorable as well! All the best with completing the development of the rest of the game!

Thank you so much for playing my game and I’m really glad you liked it!! <3
Ahh regarding the backstory, there is definitely quite a lot more than what I was able to put in the game due to the word limit ^^
warning for a lot of spoilers!
Jianqing and Lianyu were in competition for the throne, so they shared a very tumultuous relationship. Long story short, it resulted in Jianqing having to flee from his home. But Lianyu, wanting to recapture Jianqing, searched for him for many years before finding him in the village with Qiu Ye.
Like mentioned in the game, Qiu Ye told Jianqing to go on the run again while he stayed behind to fight Lianyu off, but he was defeated by Lianyu in the end. Lianyu decided to kidnap Qiu Ye as bait to lure Jianqing back to him, knowing that Jianqing and Qiu Ye were lovers.
But Lianyu was also jealous of Jianqing’s relationship with Qiu Ye, so he lied to Qiu Ye (who had partially lost his memories due to losing a few of his tails) that they were in a relationship, wanting to be loved by someone in the same way that Jianqing was.
Post events of this game, Jianqing is still on the run and is trying to find a way to rescue Qiu Ye.
SORRY this got kind of long haha but that is the gist of the events in this game! I would like to explore the backstory more in depth in the future but gotta figure out how to do that in a fun way 😂
Currently I’m in the very early stages of planning a sort of prequel, sort of sequel game that focuses more on Jianqing and Qiu Ye’s relationship HAHA but I can’t guarantee it will be made in the end ^^;;;;
Still, I really appreciate your interest and thank you for your kind words!! 🙏🙏
woahh thank you for the playthrough!! I’m glad you liked the game! ^^
spoilers
asdjh your playthrough actually made me realise there was a bug at the end where a special title screen was supposed to be displayed but it didn't show up, which I (hopefully) fixed now HAHAbut thank you for helping to playtest 🙏🙏
this game is so fun!! the art is lovely as well ^^
spoilers
I love all the silly ways you could die, some of them are so abrupt it got a good laugh out of me. The resurrection mechanic was pretty neat too! It also kind of tricked me into taking it for granted that you would always be resurrected each time you died, so when I got the first permadeath ending, it really felt like an “Oh no” moment. But the lich queen CG was excellent!!
I love Eulogy as well and her relationship with the player character actually feels very wholesome to me even with all the random deaths, since she’s always nice enough to bring you back to life each time you die HAHA (unless you try to kill her)
woahh I’m absolutely blown away by this game - the writing is incredible and I was fascinated by the story the entire time! the art and music are fantastic as well and the characters are all likeable in their own way ^^ definitely one of my favourites that I have played in this game jam!
spoilers!
I wanted to go for Niko’s route initially because I loved her character design and also found her very charming in her first interactions with Olga, but somehow I accidentally ended up in Katusha’s route instead aksjdh
That said, Katusha’s relationship with Olga is also very sweet and I didn’t want anything bad to happen to her, so I was stressed (and mildly betrayed) when Niko showed up on the train in the end. But I’m happy that there was at least one ending where things kind of worked out…? ^^;;;;
Even though Niko played a more antagonistic role, I still found her incredibly charming and she was definitely my favourite. While she was a little suspicious at first, I honestly didn’t expect her to become the antagonist and to turn out so unhinged in the end aksjdha but!! that did not detract from her appeal at all and I still love her a lot, although her endings don’t feel like the happiest for Olga… I did feel a bit bad for Katusha as well, especially since the historical reference to her family’s assassination is pretty dark.
As for Olga, she is a fantastic protagonist that I felt incredibly sympathetic towards and her immortality is so so tragic. The flashbacks of her backstory - her village being massacred and her past with Vassa - were devastating and she has been through so much, I just wanted to her to be happy. Regardless, I enjoyed the more bittersweet feeling of some of the endings and the tragedy of the darker ones as well.
Overall, thank you for making this amazing game! I don’t usually read historical fiction but I was absolutely immersed in this one as the plot and emotional beats are excellently executed!
I tried this game out because I was immediately drawn to the character designs and I absolutely adore them! The pixel art style looks great as well! The dialogue is fun and quirky and the mini games were pretty interesting! Would love to see more of the game ^^
(Just one tiny suggestion but maybe it would be helpful to include some instructions on the player controls ^^;;; On the game’s itch.io page itself would be fine too! I took a while to figure out I had to press E to interact with stuff)
