I do want to say the art is great and the clips of gameplay I see look really fun and engaging.

However, I am encountering a problem where nothing happens after the start of the game. I cannot tap to advance the game and I tried it on both browser and windows builds. It could be because of my device (surface pro). I wanted to note this to see if it could be troubleshot because this does look really well made.

having a writer to help out is also great. the general theme is invincibility, and our game is about a zoo program run digitally so that no animal can die... even though the hosts of that program may be of a darker origin. discord is junomakesthings_65289, happy to work with you. especially good if you're happy to look up animals and present facts in a fun way!

Also if you are a writer and really passionate bout animals, or know someone who is, that's also fantastic. I am drowning. Any bit of help is appreciated.

Hey guys, it's getting dire, I need help.

This is a team of a programmer, artist, and musician. I need help with the art because I recently pulled two all nighters doing 100% of the graphics for another game and I cannot keep doing this to myself. I am trying every avenue to get someone and yes, this is out of desperation at this point. Ripping my prereqs from Discord.

PREREQS :

- Some history in jam-like environments and/or Unity implementation (esp. the latter) is required.

- A portfolio of works from elsewhere besides itch is a big plus for me, particularly (I am the 2D artist on board so far)

OTHER COMPATIBLE STYLES

Here are some other sources of inspiration that fuel the vision for this game stylistically.

- The Windows 95 interface, if you are good at recreating computer interfaces like this one, that's awesome.

- Artists like Julian Miholics, Karlotta Freier, and Bird Warde inspire a lot of the zoo animal art that will be going down. I'll likely cover any character and animal art, but it's good to know where I'm drawing inspiration from.

- While animals, computer bits, and UI will be on the more pencilly-line art side, we have puzzles and narrative portions that will likely be more painterly in nature. While I will hands in both, if your style is versatile between these two, great.

If you think you'd be a good fit to help out, especially on the UI style. let's exchange portfolios, I am open to DMs.

My discord is junomakesthings_65289. I am the artist and I am happy to share my current work and sketches for this game through DM.

re: bottom paragraph, that does sound like a really cool idea! thank you for your feedback. :)

Already commented on your page earlier, but I still hope that a rating brings people your way, I like what you have so far! And I also find the idea you had for this game really cute. I would come back to a finished product in the future. Also, seeing this might be a solo project, absolutely a valiant effort (I've done physical games solo and those were hard, so managing every component of a video game on your own has to be its own beast).

- Have to link our game to review since I am not the lead publisher. I am the 2D artist for The Last Delivery.

I am not religious by any means, but christ on a bike.

Shoutout to your writer who had me screaming on several occasions, very good stuff. Some of it was also very painful (in a good way, it got the job done).

Art's great, music fits well. I will not forgive you for that jumpscare (/j). A fun experience that really immersed me in ways that feel so, so wrong. Good job to all of you!

I genuinely think this game is a prime example of a game that is the 'epitome of little creates more'. The art is really cute and stylistically brings me back to the 2010s black and white line art games that riff off of memes for the time. The sound effects do a great job of carrying the game alone and I'm unsure if music is actually needed here (because you need a balance between underdoing the sound and just a wall of noise). It's unique to most games, it's easily identifiable, and once you understand what you are doing, you can get into the more strategic elements the game has to offer. Be proud of yourself for what you've made, this is really good.

Edit: Doesn't say but I was the 2D artist for The Last Delivery, which is connected to my page for quick navigating.

I might not be able to play this one due to tech limitations, but the graphics look insanely good. Just wanted to drop that in. Hope your time with the jam was fun!

I just want to say that I really like the art for this game. It's so cute! You have something really cool in progress and I believe in you. GO WHOOP THOSE MIDTERMS! :D

Hello! I am very excited to do this jam and I have an idea set in motion for it. Right now, I am coming up with moodboards and the like, but I do have a question on internal page details.

What is the color limit for the inside (pages, text, illustrations). My color palette will be small (not an entire rainbow but say red, orange, green) and I'm looking at the insides of the books and noticing that the internal page content is usually one tone, sometimes with colored pages. Any info on that would be greatly appreciated.

While I do get that for a game jam where a high concentration of entries will be video games, the idea behind this one is it is ultimately meant to bring people together in a physical space, which is why I ultimately went with the route of making it a physical game (I wouldn't even call this a tabletop it's more of an improv game).

If you are talking about potentially making a web-zine about it so it can be read in-browser on itch (which I know is possible), I'm happy to consider that route for accessibility if I decide to work further on it.

I am happy that you enjoyed the contents of the game, though. Thank you for your feedback.

So I will start where I think this game's strengths are. The art is really nice. I love how it has this almost vintage children's book feel, and there are parts of the writing that also blends in with that feeling nicely. The world is there and I feel a level of investment in knowing more.

This is also very much a bite sized game and I am uncertain of the program and it's execution limitations (as in, I am unsure if Ren'Py can only be downloaded and run as an exe as opposed to a game on say, Unity, that can be run on either a browser or as an exe file) for a game this small. For reference, I completed this game in under a minute. I do think that, had this jam been longer, having multiple levels in this format would have helped flesh out the world and given the player more insight to the character themself (I had the inkling that this may be a child around 12-13 based on the boots comment).

All in all, this project has a very promising base presentation with a consistent aesthetic, and this is a valiant effort considering this is a one person project (and I also very much felt the pressure of having to finish mine all by myself + other commitments).

Soft spot for collage art, first off.

Great use of theme, this game functions really smoothly for a game made in 9 days. Only critique is that some of the colored text blends a bit too much with the background which can be a readability issue for some. Otherwise, great work!

The graphics scratch an itch in a way that I cannot describe.

Nice entry, it's still pretty fun and you stick around for a bit even if the result is always the same (you are never getting in).

This game's strengths are in the art and character writing. Really loved the seller's design and personality. Colors work great together (speaking overall now), and I think this game did a great job in building a a compelling environment. While I also liked the music, I will parrot what someone else said and mention that the music did just stop at a certain point.

Gameplay wise, while this does work for me somewhat, the gun swapping feature is just not possible because of my limitations (surface pro = no mouse scrolling = cannot swap guns), and I bet that is partially what makes the upgrades fun. Another thing of note is I think all of the fish regardless of size seem to be equal in meat seized, when I do think it would feel more rewarding if bigger fish = bigger gains (unless that specifically has to do with the guns swapping, in which case, I'd have no idea). Lastly, having more means of measuring the time of a net going down, how many bullets you have, some descriptors so you know where to click when you are selling or buying would be helpful (and if this is a hover with a mouse thing, having it so it can be tapped, read, and interacted with on a separate box would be my solution to making that more accessible for someone with certain limitations).

Overall, this has great potential and I would absolutely come back to a more polished version of this game. Again, biggest shout out goes to the artists and writers of this team, because they made a fun, small, intriguing world.

I am rating this based on what content I am able to see, but also unfortunately because I had no idea how to start this up on a touch screen (basically, I'm trying to rate what I can based n what's playable with a surface pro, which does not have a keyboard attached). I really like the idea, it works well with the theme, the art is solid, and I think your story and the way of describing your ingredients is illustrative and intriguing. Unfortunately I cannot rate it much higher than I did since I cannot play it with what I have.

The art and writing are both absolutely beautiful and I am amazed this was made in 9 days. I would very much love to come back to this world expanded in the future.

I want you to understand how much I love this. First off, finally a game accessible to a Surface Pro user. Second, the snails are adorable and I do always fine one to root for. Nice one!

Hello! This Jam seems really interesting. However, I am only capable of making physical games on my own. Would a short TTRPG, provided it's not great/it's absolutely bats**t work for the jam?

Unfortunately we are full at the moment, I apologize for not noticing the request on Discord.

Hey, if you are open, my team would appreciate a second programmer who has experience in Godot. Discord: junomakesthings_65289

I just realized, the team I initiated would actually really like to have a second programmer (Godot, we are leaning towards 2D). Your work looks pretty good!

Copying from discord (junomakesthings_65289)

Hello, previously mentioned doing art, but now one of my teams is looking for a programmer.

So far the team consists of:

- Art (2D, promotional), creative direction = me, EST

- Music, writing = KST

I do have a list of ideas lined up but I am always happy to take suggestions to build a good safety net for when the theme comes out. But if you are someone who does

Programming (MOST IMPORTANT):

- Open to (and has the skills for) unique puzzle design, typing games, and generally more experimental ideas.

- Experience with RPGMaker, GameMaker, Godot, or Unity a huge plus, especially in the realm of 2D (or 2D with few 3D elements) games (if it helps, my dream idea would best work with RPGMaker, but I have other ideas I love that can be more flexible with engines).

- Previously published games to look at is a huge plus, esp. in team settings (latter not required)

If you are open to other roles on this team:

- Writing: open to writing any of Realistic Fiction/Urban Fantasy, fine with possible mild horror. My ideas have a range between a more cozy strategy games and experimental games that, while not directly in the genre of horror, may be considered disturbing (existential/psychological at most with minimal to no on-screen harm).

- 3D Art*: consistent low poly style and proficient in open source software like Blender

- Pixel Art*: in the case we go with a game using RPGMaker (dependant on theme and team comp), comfortable with making backgrounds and character sprites.

-Video Editor: If you have access to a good program, great. Even better if you have prior work to show. This is probably the second most important to a programmer.

*these may be compatible for some, but not all, ideas, DM if you want the ideas that would be most compatible with these roles

Hello, I know it's been a while since this game has released, but this game inspired me to try working with Adventuron and Rexpaint. Very beautiful and I enjoyed it a bunch.

How did you import the palette into Rexpaint? I'm currently trying to do that and the one time I managed to switch the palette I just could not paint with anything after.

I do realize that this will be an ink guzzler, haha. Thank you for your feedback. I'll see what I can do for a low ink version.

Just sent a request.

discord is junomakesthings_65289, i will let you know i am in the stage of browsing around to see where i'd fit best, for transparency

Just sent a request. :)

Got you.

Just sent  friend request. Should be junomakesthings_(bunch of numbers).

Hello! I'm open to being a concept artist for a team. I have access to Krita at the moment. I can help you in the stages of designing characters, running through creative ideas, making promotional art and provide advice on visual accessibility.

Some things I think I'd be the most useful for:

- Character design/costuming/art*

- Talk sprites (if you are leaning that way, keep in mind I am fresh to this)

- Promotional illustrations (headers, thumbnails, etc)

Things I Am ESPECIALLY Passionate About : Pro wrestling, tokusatsu, vocaloid, nature, the color green pops up a lot in my work if your idea has a lot of green i might be a good fit.
