Really does boggle the mind when customizable/experimental options or menus are placed into a game and are then never utilized or filled out with more options.

That's what an education at MIT will get for you, right Gordon?

The question remains, what does including all that trash add to the game?

press alt + enter, then you can adjust the size of the window by clicking on the border.

I just don't see how food spoilage/cooking, garbage collecting, or even fishing really enhances the gameplay at all. These kinds of meticulous activities weren't the tasks that made the game fun or unique. It was the signals, aliens/phenomena and atmosphere that were the hooks the game had.

With these kinds of features being added it's gonna turn into some sort of survival/viscera cleanup detail game with aliens. I really don't think that's the best trajectory for what the game already offered.

The only aspect of the game I had concerns with was the downtime after completing the daily task since it was fairly boring just readying a bunch more signals for the following day. Maybe the garbage/food spoilage/cooking/fishing were meant to fill that void but it just doesn't seem fun/in the spirit of the game especially when you have to use your points to clean up the trash. Maybe the fishing could be interesting but food spoilage and cooking, from reading other comments, seems very meticulous and unnecessary when you needed to spend your limited points on food to begin with.
