Great puzzle game! The artstyle is really cute, the dialogue tone is great.

As others have said, those first two levels really are quite unforgiving. Level 2 sent me through the wringer and making the obvious solution 1 short was kinda evil. The other levels were great though, shame some people probably got too disheartened to see them.

I hope things go better for them with the aliens in the other timelines :(

Loved the spice in the worldbuilding, art is very cute and cool.

As others have pointed out, the bugs do bring the experience down a tad (tooltips, stacking items), and the lack of a visual grid can be kinda maddening sometimes. I also wish effect items were guaranteed at least one per shop cycle, but that may just be a skill issue on my part, as others didn't seem to have a problem with it.

Overall, good game!

We had a similar idea for the second half of our game (which we couldn't implement due to time constraints), so it was really cool and surprising to see it in yours!

As others have said, I do think it sins a bit in the balancing department. The artwork, sfx, and especially music are top-notch, though. Great work!

10/10. Really, there's nothing else to be said. Impeccable atmosphere, amazing voice acting, incredible graphics, I could go on and on just praising things with "adjective" + "noun".

especially loved the red herrings, forcing you to actually read the text rather than just skimming through and looking for keywords. I don't know if acids and bases can actually be hidden (as the notes mention) because that never happened in any of my runs.
I don't know how this game could possibly be improved further, but this is easily the one game in the Jam that I'd love to see get expanded.

My one singular, pedantic piece of criticism would be that "Ctrl" just makes you slower, which seems pretty useless. I wish it would make you crouch instead, making it easier to pick up items on the bottom shelves.

Was confused at first, some instruction on the game itself would be nice. Once I read the description, it's actually a pretty cool arcade game. Would suggest having a "diver dropping off" animation, because it's kinda hard to understand how much exactly the wind is affecting the divers. Would also like for the dive countdown to be shown, although that may defeat some of the purpose of the game? Just my personal feeling.

After 5 runs, my best score was 445!

Flawless execution. Game is fun the whole way through, levels are well balanced and difficulty scaling is great, very charming and flavorful text that functions perfectly with the game's graphics and general tone.

Can't leave a review without mentioning that the thumbnail is chef's kiss.

Also, my best wishes to Mr.(?) McBombface. If this was training, I don't think he's living a very long life.

Thanks for the kind words! Wasn't the original intention, but we really quickly noticed how the game worked as an aimlab once it got going.

Also, no. I'm never gonna give those up ;)

Thanks for playing! We had a lot of fun coming up with the ransomwares, glad people liked them :)

Thanks for the kind words! I had a lot of fun going through your game as well, they really are two peas in a pod :)

Great idea and execution! Just enough enemy types, guns feel almost perfect to use, and upgrades feel really good to buy and use. Earning money and most upgrades are well balanced for the most part (more on that later). Flavor is really good in chat and the upgrade menu has a lot of personality.

If you ever come back to this game:
I wish there was some incentive to actually read the chat, although it is a cool feature, I think leaving the chat itself (I understand the chat upgrades DO gameplay stuff, I'm referring to the chat text) as just flavor a bit of a missed opportunity, but I do understand it would probably break the game's flow too much.

As an AVID fan and high-ranked member of the "Bullet Count Upgrade Lovers Anonymous" community, I kindly ask for a complete rebalancing of the bullet count upgrade, because as it is it significantly worsens your run with each buy. I would prefer if the speed-related upgrades were more significantly pronounced and got significantly expensive after each upgrade as well, but that's just personal opinion.

Also, you might want to add a max fov to the minigun.

Had a lot of fun with this one, great idea and execution, not to mention the artwork and UI execution was STELLAR! Learning how to deal with everything was very rewarding, amazing job!

Cool idea, GREAT artwork and atmosphere! Not much to say as others have pointed everything out, but if you do come back to it later, may I suggest a "breadcrumb automap" (so it leaves a trail where you've already went. Of course, the map stays dark) like the original Doom ?

We know the game, and we're gonna play it
Thanks for playing! Glad to know we didn't let you down ;)

Thanks for the words! Fun fact: we actually tried an older theme at first. However, we're not artists, so it was a bit too difficult for what our scope allowed (and probably wouldn't look that great). Because of that, we went for a more modern, sleek theme.

Really cool idea with great execution. As the game has no tutorials, understanding how it works and having a lightbulb moment on certain parts of the game felt great (for the most part), which is no easy feat. I do have to say the distance from the 4th to the 5th planets (the one with the gigantic purple planet, which you can't leave the atmosphere if you land on it btw) feels somewhat big though.

It takes a while for the game to click at first, but when it does, it's pretty cool seeing your (admittedly very straightforward plan) work out. As others have said, my main gripe is not being able to easily see the screen with the action after you type the commands (maybe widen the FOV a bit?). In general, it's a great idea with good execution and lots of potential. Good job!

Thanks a lot for your time! We'll be sure to keep your feedback in mind when updating the game.

Thank you very much for the honest feedback! Would you have any suggestions or further critics on how to improve the upgrades? We're all ears.
