Absolutely lovely. :)

So kind of you again, thank you! Thanks for trying it out :)

Amazing pack, exactly what I was looking for - thanks and great work!

I love this - reminds me of Delver and Barony. And the core loop is fun - keep it up!

Awesome game, love simple roguelikes like this that have surprising amounts of depth (no pun intended). Great job!

Amazing work, I've added a lot of your sounds to DROP LOOT and gave you credit: https://johnreno.itch.io/droploot

Thanks again!

Awesome, I wish you all the best  😊

this is super cool - would have loved to have this on a game boy back in the day. Can’t wait to see how you progress with it. And great intro sequence too!

Played back in 2004, still love it. Amazing!

Incredible game and fantastic art direction. A joy to play!

Amazing work and attention to detail to the original. I'm in awe - fantastic job!

Fantastic game, well made and super fun. I really enjoyed the upgrades too.

I keep playing the same 10 levels just to see him smile! I know it's a short game but would love to see more levels one day.

I absolutely loved this game, the movement and the way it goes down to the next level is adorable. And I made Moai Happy. Love it.

Lies! Fun game. :)

Unique idea, I had fun playing around with the gravity. :)

Great style and vibe!

Wishlisted - well made and presented, great attention to detail in the audio design too!

Oh good shout, I think giving some input would help. And there is a shop item that gives a chest spawn chance when matching keys! Thanks so much, that's super helpful feedback <3

Oh thanks so much for playing, that's so kind of you. Your music really adds such a nice atmosphere and never feels repetitive!

ps. If you get a sec, please let me know what would have made the game easier to get into at the start (only if you have time!).

Thanks again!

Big update with lots of fixes and new items to cause havok with!

Some updates for anyone who's been playing - thanks for reading!

New card in the deck: 🌶️ HOT SAUCE.

  • Tucked into each player's deck at the same drop rate as bombs (3 per 38-card deck, ~8%).
  • Place on a meat tile (ham or tuna), and it flips that tile to the other meat. Place it anywhere else and you waste it.
  • FishBot uses hot sauce strategically. It sees hot sauce coming and plays more defensively when you're holding a hot sauce.

New art: All of the old artwork and the new hot sauce bottle was reworked and hand drawn by Giada Tumino. Grazie!

Thank you, and thanks for playing it! Hope you're doing well and make more art one day too.

Extremely clever, and super well art directed. Congratulations!

Just did a small tweak to balance depth difficulty scaling - thanks for checking it out!

Hi everyone!

Just released DROP LOOT, a falling-block puzzle roguelike with a particle system that got completely out of hand.

Think Puyo Puyo with a dungeon underneath and a sandbox underneath that. Match tiles to slay monsters, defeat bosses, pick passive powers, and descend deeper. Every run is a different build.

The particle system is the part I'm proudest of. Three independent particle canvases running in parallel, eight reactive particle kinds with Noita-style elemental cross-reactions: fire ignites blood, water douses fire into steam, lightning arcs through wet tiles, slime corrodes red gore into mud. Kills explode, the gore stays where it lands for the rest of the run, and a boss kill ignites every blood splatter in a distance-staggered chain.

Features:

  • Noita-style particle reactions across eight elemental kinds
  • Passive powers that synergise into combos and chains
  • Bosses that change the rules
  • Shops with build-defining upgrades
  • Hand-drawn pixel art throughout (still WIP on some animations)

Roadmap:

  • More enemies and bosses
  • More passive powers and synergies
  • iOS, Android and Steam releases (if there's any interest)

Play it here: https://johnreno.itch.io/droploot

Give it a go (or just mess with the particles on the title screen) and let me know what you think!
