Auspice boss GLOOMSWILLERs ability “Destroy artifacts after they are played into the fort” … do I do this at the end of game or as soon as an artifact is placed down? My reading is as soon as it’s placed down which costs my 4 resolve but maybe I have card that allows for collecting from Crypt so it’ll suit. Otherwise I’d be conscious not to play an artifact. Am I reading this correctly?
When playing with Auspice Expansion and introducing new cards of the expansion through unlocking them via defeating them as boss first (as per recommendation in Rules), does it matter which card gets take out of the base game with each introduction of Auspice Expansion cards subject to i) deck having just 15 cards, ii) deck having minimum of three 4 cost cards?
I must be missing something. The way I understand it: In the set up phase 4. 'Draw 3 fort cards to form your hand' .. so I have 3 cards normally in hand. Typically you'd spend/steel a card in the Encounter phase then moving on to Actions 3. it states 'Take Stock ie draw cards up to your minimum hand size of 3' ... so normally I'm putting one card down picking up 1 card so my hand size is 3 generally. No where in the rules does it state you can have no more than 3 cards in hand unless I'm missing something. The Shady Accomplice card played on ground floor would be actioned as 'move a card from this floor back into your hand' .. so i pay the conquest cost and put Shady accomplice down and pick up a card .. my hand size stays at 3 .. Alfred says below that 'The minimum hand size is usually 3. So if you get to the Take Stock stage with 3 cards in hand, you wouldn't draw another card.' .. so does this mean the rules should state under Take Stock 'if less that 3 cards in hand draw up to 3 cards. maximum hand size 3'? I'm playing currently maximum hand size 3 but the Take Stock rule is open for interpretation as it says 'Take Stock ie draw cards up to your minimum hand size of 3' so my initial reading playing Shady Accomplice was I've played card ground floor and maintained my hand size of 3 post encounter phase, moved onto take stock phase and drawn a card as i have a minimum of 3 taking it to 4 as there is nothing stating a maximum so its not obvious that you would not draw a card when playing shady accomplice.
I've played 15 games now and find scoring to be around 6-8 for both the my conquests and perils. Does this sound about right from everyone's playtesting/games? seem's I'm hitting draws 7-7 quite often. really enjoying how cards interact and 'luck' of draw. mechanics v cool in this. looking forward to expansions as I can see this having a lot of potential with expansions.
this helps thanks so much . So if I understand it correctly:
- Top floor: 2/2, i.e. 2 x pools of 2 resolve - spend 4 get 4 back split 2/2 ie cost free to place with free steel thrown in
- Middle floor: 2/1, i.e. 1 x pool of 2 resolve and 1 x pool of 1 resolve - spend 4 resolve get 3 back split 1 pool 2 1 pool 1 ie effectively cost 1 resolve with a steel thrown in
- Ground floor: 1/1, i.e. 2 x pools of 1 resolve - spend 4 get 2 back split 2x 1 pool ie costs 2 resolve with a steel thrown in
When placing shady accomplice in fort conquest side up what is benefit of using it on middle or top floor by swapping with another card? Unless there are scoring synergies I haven’t discovered yet from doing so. I can seeing the benefit of this card on the ground floor. Also when swapping with cards do you keep the cards peril side up or down as they were before swap? I assume yes .. thx
I still don’t understand if I’m honest. . my understanding is it’s a ‘free’ steel of sorts or a reset of resolve ie extra resolve?. Is this correct: i) on ground floor would I take my hero card still at 4 and one beside still at 4 and manipulate so that both should the 4x1 resolve? ii) on middle floor I would take one hero (still at 4) and give it 2 resolve & 2 resolve and one beside it (still at 4) 4x1 resolve? iii) on top floor I would give heroes side by side both 2 and 2 resolve? Is this a resolve reset ie if heroes use up most resolve do I get this back? Apologies if it’s obvious but just don’t follow if it’s rest of resolve at those 1/1 2/1 2/2 numbers which would be very powerful.
When removing cards from fort through banish or destroy abilities do you always replace them and fill fort in a future encounter phase until fort is 9? Only ask as on last page rules it mentions if card removed from fort through destroy on lower floor it’s filled so I’m curious about same floor and generally how to action when cards removed from fort. Thx (new to game playing for first time)
