Thanks for the feedback! Have in mind this is just the first version, so I will probably change it to make it more forgiving in a future release.

One problem of making your own games is that you get too good with them and it’s difficult to realize when a level is too hard :D

Hi outsee! I’m very glad you liked it.

[SPOILERS]

After disabling the shields there isn't any trick other than shooting it with the pistol (the EMP gun deals no damage to it). There's enough ammo around the level for that.
You should be aware of the other enemies, the droids will come behind you and three turrets will deploy at the end. You have to stay clear from them because they can shred you, remember the only way to destroy them is to use the EMP gun so use the charge stations inside the pillars.
The monster projectiles are not that hard to dodge but once the head is detached it will try to dash against you. You can experiment with some bunny hopping but I don't think is necessary, just don't stand still.

Don't give up!

About loading, unfortunately I’ve decided not to include it, at least for now, because it’s a big feature. Also this is why I don’t want to keep adding more maps, it’s getting too long for a single session. But I feel replaying the game once you know the “puzzles” shouldn’t take you long.

However… There’s a cheat you can use :) Start the game normally and press the ~ key (tilde, the one left to 1 in US keyboards) and type map reactor. Due to a bug I haven’t figured out yet it is possible that it will spawn you outbounds and kill you, if that happens just open the console again and repeat the command. You will spawn with the necessary weapons (but not the wrench and visor) and if you go back to the previous maps you’ll start at the beginning instead of the end.

You can use the same map command with all the levels (cryo, lowerdeck, lasers, bridge and cargo). Another useful command: resurrect ;)

Wish you luck!

Thanks for the kind words outsee, I’m glad you enjoyed it. System shock is definitely one of the biggest influences. I’ll make a post as soon as I release more content (I’m working on the cargo bay area and it there’s a new enemy type).

Thanks for your comment. You can already play it!!! The current release has 4 levels including a boss fight. These can be a little hard to beat so there’s at least 40min of gameplay. I want to prioritize my other game for now but later this year I will probably revisit this project and polish it, maybe add a few more levels (no promises there). Let me know if you try it!

The ending is great, very fun and rewarding. The music is superb and I really liked the level design and the textures. The ammo==hp mechanic is interesting but I think the weapons and the enemies need more variety. Great job! I would love to play more levels of this.

I loved this game, the mix of styles make a very unique environment. The sprites are nice and the levels are fun to play. Mowing down hordes of enemies with the Savage Machine gun is extremely satisfying.

Hey Gabriel, thanks for the positive comment! The late 90s feel is precisely what I’m aiming for.

I still plan to complete this project, however I’m pausing the development for some time (hopefully short) because I want to improve my level editor so I can make the new levels faster. Now that you mentioned, I could split the text in smaller chunks to make it easier to digest. In any case it will always be optional content, skipping the logs might make the game harder but not impossible.

Thanks for offering your voice. I haven’t considered adding voices mainly because I don’t want to get into audio mixing since I know nothing about that. I’m just a programmer and a noob in modeling and texturing, so I want to avoid adding more complexity to a solo project. I plan to add some cool dark ambient track (CC maybe) and some generic sci-fi sound fx, don’t expect anything wow in this department. But if everything goes well I might consider adding voices, or maybe for a future project :D

Hi, if you decided to download the game, please leave a comment.

Did you find any bugs? How's the performance?
What do you think about the style so far?

Thanks!
