I just had the same problem. I trained up a bunch and managed to win but it just loops the cutscene and fight and then I lose the second time. But also loving the game!!
Thank you kind soul. I have been grinding buneary since level 3 as the party main and I was positive I had taken at least 40,000 steps at this point. I thought I would never get it to evolve. But with this info, I only have 2 levels to go!
