Minor bug but just though you should know

This also applies to the book of thorns

This happens whenever you take damage while surfing. You continuously take damage until you die or gravity pulls you through. The water in weather station doesn't deal damage, though, so you just clip through the floor. Also, if you surf clip through something that deals damage and then fall and stop taking damage, you will be frozen until you reload the game.

I had this same problem with surf. I think its because surf and orca flip respawn infinitely so when you collect it, your not always collecting the real one. If you collect it a bunch of times, it randomly starts working  if you wait a bit.

This also applies to all capacitor shards

The plasma found on the left side of the cerulean station, in the plasma wastes, and the lower residential area respawn infinitely, letting you get infinite plasma and therefore infinite health. (Web version)

Try this one

There's a secret passage under Vapor City Downtown that you can see from above while walking in the streets. It has red walls and there is a door. Does anyone know how to enter? If not, does anyone know any way to clip through walls?

Also, if you put a different plasma into the forge, it will give you it's bonus plus the bonus that you lost, but the extra will go away again when changing locations

Clarification: This bug only applies to the plasma on the left, where there's a sign that says nice job. The other side works fine.

The plasma health upgrade from the incredibly hard jump over the train tracks in Cerulean Cove is lost when changing locations (going through a door or on the train). The actual plasma item is also lost on death, which is an issue because of how little health you have left after completing the jump. There is also an infinite death loop where, if you stand too close to the tracks on your way back it will save your respawn location on the tracks.

And if it doesn't, is it possible to get the surf ability on the itch.io version?
