Epic

Tricky - but super simple and addictive. Great use of a risk/reward system. My high score sucks (18) but maybe I will git gud one day.

Thank you for checking it out :)  I appreciate it!

In my mind it was maybe just to give a reason to collect flies? The game began very spontaneously. I had a bit of classic Kirby/etc in my mind as well which typically have lives systems, but I do think in retrospect it wasn't a great call. Being my first (very short) full game I am sure there are a lot of obvious missteps haha.

I'm slowly working out ideas for a more fleshed out sequel and I will not be keeping the lives system, would rather it be a more chill experience.

Regardless, thank you for playing!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope I can use what I've learned to make something better next time.

Goodness, thanks so much! I'm glad my little game brought good vibes your way.

It'll be a while probably but I do plan a more proper / longer game as a sequel one day.

Finally got a chance to give this a go today.  Great little game, right up my alley with how quick and easy it was to get into!  I think I did pretty good for a first try, I like that the whole game world is interconnected, tried making a mental map in my head as I went along.

Thank you!  It was one of my favourite little features to implement, but I'll have to make some longer underwater sections next time so its not over so quick.  Thanks for playing!

Thanks a lot for giving it a couple playthroughs.  I appreciate it!

Thanks!  I agree the tongue could be used for some interesting things, hopefully in an possible sequel I can flesh out the mechanic more.

Thanks very much!

My wife recently played Frog Detective and it was one of her favourite gaming experiences in recent memory so I decided to check out your other work.

This was a very nice little game.  Unfortunately I didn't bring any sanddollers and don't remember my FIN to get them from the machine.  Was curious to have my fortune read (maybe next time).  Thankfully there was some free entertainment and gluten.

However, this game did provide a weird sense of catharsis, as I was just mentioning to my wife the other day how I miss just window shopping in stores even though I never buy anything.  Browsing the fishy shops and stalls here brought me back to a simpler time.  Thank you for this.

Thanks for trying it out!  I agree with the difficulty, I didn't get enough time during the game jam to really fine tune things but will try to work on it some more soon :)

Haha, thanks very much.  I used Godot, have been going through some tutorials in my free time but I'm by no means a coder.  It turned out nice enough for my first shot at something all on my own, sometimes its the little victories.

Yeah there isn't much to this for sure.  I will certainly think about some more interesting mechanics / variety.
Thank you for giving it a shot.

Thanks for giving it a shot!  It isn't much really but I learned some things along the way.
I definitely spent too much time on the music and art, could have used some extra polish / variety in the game itself.  You're definitely right about the Game Over screen, would be good to have some score tracking.  And I'll have to make it possible to navigate menus with the keyboard, or at least a simple keypress for Retry!
Thanks again.

Simple but fun little game, haha.  Definitely an interesting and unique spin on the "locked" theme, and the art is cute.  As others have said, some more Todd-picking would be just swell!

Really simple concept but great use of the "locked" theme.  I like bite-size puzzle games like this lately so this was a nice little game for me.

Yes, it is a VERY simple game but appreciate you giving it a shot!

Your expansion ideas aren't far off what I had planned, though only had time for a proof of concept.  But for future builds maybe :)

Thanks!

It may not be much but I like the little duckie.

Certainly not a bad proof of concept, could see this being expanded into something along the lines of the ducks quest for knowledge.  Perhaps some puzzles or riddles hidden within the books you read.
