Gotta say, I'm quite impressed! This was good for a visual novel, but it's amazing for a "jam"-type game made on a short schedule!
Short read, but a good one and worth your time!
Awesome story so far! An unusually positive and optimistic FVN (amongst the ones I've read so far, anyway!) that has a great spirit, great art, and a captivating and well-paced story!
I've fully enjoyed what has been published to-date (up to version 0.2.7 here on Itch), and look forward to its continuation.
I'm also aware that this comment sounds very flat and boring... but rest assured, I really do enjoy Temptation's Ballad! Honestly, it's probably my favorite FVN I've read to date!
Oh, god, no! Right in the goddamned FEELS! >_<
I need a Baxter... ;_;
In seriousness, I loved this story. If I had a complaint, it would only be the drama at the very end. Seemed unnecessary, but that's just me. (Spoiler Ahead) I felt SOOO bad for Bax, and I was SOOO pissed at Mylo. I damn-near shouted "No, wait--BAX, COME BACK! I'LL LOVE YOU!!!" at my screen.
I would, too. Baxter is everything I dream of. Well... minus the bisexuality. Mylo's not the only one with trust issues after bad experiences. >_<
I legit couldn't figure out what happened at the end. Were they all dead? Was he dead and dreaming of being with them? Were they in a poly thing? Were they just cuddle buddies while healing?
The end was super unclear.
And as a personal opinion, your clarification bummed me out. Kinda getting tired of reading stories that start out looking monogamous but end up in polyamory. Feels like it happens in damn near every one. >=( Again, that's just my opinion, not a criticism.
This is, as the title of my post suggests, a lovely little story. It's not terribly long or deeply involved, it's just a nice little slice-of-life story.
I'm not much into "monsters", but the main one was fully palatable anyhow. Nothing insanely over-the-top, though there is one unexpected (and only lightly-used) surprise in there that I won't spoil. Both characters are relatable, they seem a good fit for each other, and the story touches on some of the anxieties that I think most people feel when they're new to relationships, especially ones that include a major life change (such as moving great distances).
Although I'm twice the main characters' age, the story still hit pretty close to home for me due to striking similarities between me and the MC, and similarities between my dream version of a partner and the boyfriend (the "monster"). Quite idyllic, really.
Anyhow, the story is great, the visuals are good, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing it. The only thing I'd criticize is the scene transitions that "reset" the display--they take too long to animate, and don't seem to be properly affected by speed changes in Preferences. The removal of the old scene will go quicker, but the reveal of the new is still slow, and the one-by-one removal and a replacement of the icons is... obnoxious.
Regardless of that nitpick, as I said, the VN was thoroughly enjoyable, and I'm glad the creator shared it with us!
