Yeah I was really just doing my best to not hit hazards and letting Conrad do his best.

This is sick! Love the art style

So glad we got a TD game in the jam! Love these. For whatever reason, I couldn't access any menu between rounds to add or upgrade towers, and the path wasn't ever apparent, but I still made it quite a few rounds.

This is a good time!

This is great! I love how you imply the adventure via the items going in and out, extremely clever!

aw thanks!

That is a fun idea! I don't know if I'll do much more tinkering with it but if I do, that's definitely the kind of polish-y thing I would want to have in there. Thanks for checking it out!

Yes yesssss! That means it worked haha

Thanks for checking it out! Hope it kept you with good company for a little while.

My dastardly plan worked!

ah! I only have 2. Not entirely sure how to get more but I started a more thorough search on my lunch.

Interesting, hadn't seen anything about blue fruit from them aside from the thing about the bushes. I think unfortunately I didn't commit enough in any direction to beat the spider as is, so I may just try starting over.

I did find the bushes but both say they aren't ripe yet. Though if there is another way to get it then I know there's someone else I can help

I really like how you've filled out the world since I first played the demo! I like the pulp-y touches like finding who needs which item.

I do think I'm soft locked now unfortunately. Even with the gold fruit I can't defeat the boss I found (which is also the only lead I have on what to do next), and all the other caves have locked doors. I don't have any items to give anyone and I can't buy any more candy. The encounter rate is also brutal; I'm often walking more in the inventory screen to get a bandage than I am in the world between battles!

All that said, I do really like the world and I want to see the rest of the story. Should I maybe start over and respec to focus more on attack, or do you have some pointers?

Actually, the Playdate sideloading site says it can't find the top level pdx file. Is this just the zest file?

Congrats on the release! Just sideloaded and I'll be playing sometime this week!

One of them was made for a bundle a couple of easters ago, I think I changed one of the enemies to a bunny? I don't actually remember haha.

hell yeah

cat

Yeah I won't be getting a modern OS until our demands are met

Thanks! Can't wait to work on it more!

No prob, just posted it for a local game jam! New, slightly better version will hopefully be up this weekend!

I won't lie, in general you won't get a ton of response for Pulp games unless you're really active/well known, but I would definitely be all up in there if you decide to! There's also the dev forum, which is less traffic but still good for documenting thoughts and progress. I'd love to tag along either way.

Yes! Yes! Orkn pointed me to this and I'm so happy to see it. I love the art and your take on ID's systems and terminology. Pennies in particular feels so good as someone who went to his fair share of summer camps! Very good setting for a Pulp-style adventure as well.
Are you on the Playdate Squad Discord? I would love to follow along with a devlog if you're doing one there or anywhere else. And you KNOW I'm down to playtest!

This is great!

THIS is a good game

Thank you! Hopefully it sustains that momentum for you!

Got it loaded! Thanks!

I played a few rounds, you've got a good thing going here. High score so far is 68. Happy to test any and all builds going forward haha. I feel like most of what I have to say is pretty obvious stuff at this point, like weapon and movement bonuses for killing enemies, specific goals and achievements, characters with different skillsets, pretty classic stuff for this kind of game. It's already off to a pretty strong start though!

That worked! I'll check it out this afternoon!

Hey, super excited about this. But I just tried to sideload it and the website says it can't find the top level PDX.

It hangs on the logo screen, and then the crash screen directs me to this URL, which doesn't have a lot of info haha

Hey! I love the idea of this game, but I loaded it up on my Playdate and it crashes before it can open all the way. I'm on a revA so I'm wondering if it has to do with that, as I've heard the load times can be slower.

I just want you to know, I randomly remembered this game I bought years ago and have been playing it every day for the last two weeks. I like it very much.

Ah! Thank you so much! I'm so glad to hear that.

Pulp is such a wonderful tool, and there are so many other great games made with it. Good times ahead for you!

Thank you! Trying not to count my chickens when it comes to Catalog, but they did seem excited about it!

really excellent work

(1 edit)

Someone linked this to me in the discord last night! Thank you so much! I was just about to email you a thank you haha. Hopefully you'll have another plane ride coming up after I finish the new build so you can check out the super bosses!

Also I clicked around the site a bit, and I'm so glad someone is doing what you're doing. Always good to have another Playdate resource.

Aw thanks!

Stoked!
