ah! I only have 2. Not entirely sure how to get more but I started a more thorough search on my lunch.

Interesting, hadn't seen anything about blue fruit from them aside from the thing about the bushes. I think unfortunately I didn't commit enough in any direction to beat the spider as is, so I may just try starting over.
I did find the bushes but both say they aren't ripe yet. Though if there is another way to get it then I know there's someone else I can help
I really like how you've filled out the world since I first played the demo! I like the pulp-y touches like finding who needs which item.
I do think I'm soft locked now unfortunately. Even with the gold fruit I can't defeat the boss I found (which is also the only lead I have on what to do next), and all the other caves have locked doors. I don't have any items to give anyone and I can't buy any more candy. The encounter rate is also brutal; I'm often walking more in the inventory screen to get a bandage than I am in the world between battles!
All that said, I do really like the world and I want to see the rest of the story. Should I maybe start over and respec to focus more on attack, or do you have some pointers?
I won't lie, in general you won't get a ton of response for Pulp games unless you're really active/well known, but I would definitely be all up in there if you decide to! There's also the dev forum, which is less traffic but still good for documenting thoughts and progress. I'd love to tag along either way.
Yes! Yes! Orkn pointed me to this and I'm so happy to see it. I love the art and your take on ID's systems and terminology. Pennies in particular feels so good as someone who went to his fair share of summer camps! Very good setting for a Pulp-style adventure as well.
Are you on the Playdate Squad Discord? I would love to follow along with a devlog if you're doing one there or anywhere else. And you KNOW I'm down to playtest!
I played a few rounds, you've got a good thing going here. High score so far is 68. Happy to test any and all builds going forward haha. I feel like most of what I have to say is pretty obvious stuff at this point, like weapon and movement bonuses for killing enemies, specific goals and achievements, characters with different skillsets, pretty classic stuff for this kind of game. It's already off to a pretty strong start though!
Someone linked this to me in the discord last night! Thank you so much! I was just about to email you a thank you haha. Hopefully you'll have another plane ride coming up after I finish the new build so you can check out the super bosses!
Also I clicked around the site a bit, and I'm so glad someone is doing what you're doing. Always good to have another Playdate resource.
Just finished the final mission, and it was everything I hoped after seeing the trailer in the direct! NG+ is a very cool challenge as well, as I get big for my britches thinking using high level towers on early stages will be cake, and it's totally not haha.
I did have one crash in the first mission where you don't get any money for destroying ships, early teens I think? But it only happened once and I was able to make it through the rest of the game without it happening again.
Also, I have to assume there are technical limitations in the way, but I would die for a free play mode.
Seriously, I love this game. Definitely gonna remember it for next year's awards!
Thank you for the feedback! This is why testing is so valuable haha.
Which caves specifically were you in? The Sunken Tunnel or the Liquor Mines?
The wheels problem should be fixed in the latest version, as you are not the only person who ran into this.
I was actually testing the game on my flight today and ALSO ran into the issue of data not deleting properly! I'm going to consult with the Pulp gurus on this one, but I am out of town for the weekend.
Thanks again for playing. Hopefully in a new go around you won't hit the same issues in the new update. Otherwise, I'll be working on more improvements for a while yet! Thanks again for letting me know!
