yes, i realized that based on the instructions given, wherein i am provided exactly that information. my issue is with how difficult it is to employ that knowledge to catch the snake. admittedly 15 minutes is the product of a dire skill issue, but in all the playthroughs i watched it took the player several minutes to sufficiently corner the snake so as to catch it. strictly speaking, a difficult challenge is not a mortal sin, but the pacing does suffer from it in this particular instance; the player is dragged out of their fear by their need to lock the fuck in and catch the stupid idiot baby snake.

this game is awesome! the atmosphere is great and i was super unnerved the whole time. is the catching the baby snake section supposed to be really hard? i spent like 15 minutes on it and never got close to catching the snake. i thought i grabbed it once but it just turned away and changed trajectory.
