Yeah we kinda realized that halfway through which sucks because we put a ton of effort into it, ig id just recommend watching the playthrough for those people who don't want to download, Can be found at the bottom of this thread and in our games page. I'll post it again here so its at the top

Really well executed game I enjoyed playing it. Save system, fast travel, rebinding controls, really nice quality of life things to include in such a short time. Multiple bosses and a fun attack system. Some friendly critique id give is actually its really easy to softlock right at the start of the game when if you kill the enemys that let you get up and fall down without hitting the save (I thought the save was past the wall but its actually right there). Overall really well executed game good job.
Thankyou so much this warms my heart to hear as I created all the visuals by myself this month while working another job. My programmer and I put everything we had into this game as our first game jam and although its not perfect, we are quite happy with this for our first time and comments like this really mean alot.
For the maps we used Unreal 5's cube grid editor as a (super rough) base, I created every other asset you see in Zbrush, maya, substance painter, and photoshop and placed them by hand to give the environments more of an organic feel. Thankyou for playing and leaving a nice comment we worked really hard on this and its our first game.
Thankyou for playing, and yes we haven't done anything to optimize the game lol. I could list you a million things we could do to make this game run smoother but since it ran very well on our computers (90-120 fps) we didn't really worry about it to make time to add more content as there is about 3 hours of content to a new player in the game. This was our first game jam and I think in the future we will focus on optimizing as we go a bit more lol.
I applaud you for using unreal for a 2d game like this since im a fellow unreal enjoyer, the art is also really great the atmosphere and immersion are on point. My only complaint is that it seems like I can only use the wall slide when im above half stamina and the enemy's are extremely hard to deal with with the range the character has. Artistically this game is 5/5 stars though great work.
Thanks for the feedback, im glad you liked it. Also great to know about the issue of it being harder to use the jumps when the game is running slower. Theres a lot we could do to optimize more but since we didn't have much time we kinda just had to hope ppl could run it at over 100 frames, never got around to testing on lower end pc :( so thanks for that feedback.
I love the art style of this game, idk how to describe it almost abstract with the textures but it still is reading like you are playing inside of lifeform. Funny enough our games have very similar plots which drove me to download and play it. I suggest you use some more screenshots to advertise the game a bit more since its really cool and I wasnt sure what I was about to play before hand. Maybe put some of the frames from the cutscene and some screenshots from ingame since the world looks great. Awesome job I really enjoyed playing it. Check out our game for a similar take on getting shrunk down (we dont have cool cutscenes like you tho) we do have a extremely vast world to explore.
Thanks for playing. If you are stuck I have a walkthrough posted in this comments section and on our page. I highly suggest giving that a watch or trying again since we have a ton of content in our game and there is a lot to explore/unlock you should be able to just hit resume game and the walkthrough will help. We wish we had time to implement a 3D map but with just 2 people for a game this large we didn't have time.
This is hands down my favorite game I've played during this jam despite it not even being finished. Ill start with the art, though simplistic it is extremely cohesive, the character is super cute, the tile sets blend together nicely and the outside area with greens added to the color palette feels super fresh and new I love the twisting vines and your background of all the trees. The animations feel like they carry real weight to them, the tiny details of his head clanking off the ceiling with the sparks is great. The level flow is good even without a map. Game design wise the puzzles aren't too easy but aren't too hard they respect your time. The character controller is good with no annoying binds (not to mention this game you can actually change your binds which is awesome for a one month jam). I encountered only 1 bug the whole time and it is debugged by just refreshing from your last save so no issue since saves are placed in good spots (the characters top and bottom get swapped and I can only go up and cant go down with the extender mechanic). Critiques for the future I would say the sound of extending and retracting the neck is a bit jarring. Amazing job my fav game so far (i've played a lot).
Extremely impressive to me for just a one month jam, the art is great and very cohesive, I also enjoyed the music alot, the thing was that this plays more like a rpg then a Metroidvania to me and the enemys seem to just insta one shot me, maybe I just suck but thats my only complaints. Amazing job especially artistically.
The art is great I love the music, super cute sprites, animations, environment, and interface. Also the crafting system is really cool, great effort implementing something that complex for a 1 month jam, I can see the vision, really interesting game. Ofc you had stuff you didnt get to but other than those things the game is really polished and I enjoyed it.
Super well put together , the story is interesting, animations are nice I love the 3 little spins she does when using the drain attack, I didn't run into any bugs, the tile set is clean and consistent and player controller feels nice, it did have that exploration and discovery vibe you want from a metroidvania but I kinda lost that feeling when it just ended was too soon haha, this is a good thing tho because if there was more areas, bosses and stuff to do in general it would def amp the feeling alot. Overall I enjoyed playing it and great job.
