By "writing" I mean the descriptions and pacing of the H-scenes and stuff like the massage parlor.

The gameplay was always basic turn-based RPG stuff with some damage types doing more or less total damage, and the lewd attacks / sensitivity grinding. The lewd attacks are still there and the combat is now much more focused on reacting and planing out a turn. How anyone could think the gameplay was the legacy's main strengths is kind of mind blowing to me, it was extremely basic and 90% of it was placeholder. The card system with RNG was decent enough. I also don't see how cutting the walking around exploration is any big loss. Like you can't talk to random NPCs that don't really have anything to say or find random items now, oh well.

Of course there is less art, this is the first part of the new game system and im sure most if not all of the old art will be used as the new version gets updated. But now the game is built more around the art and the events leading to the art; which to be honest, that and the voice acting is like 80% of my total interest in the game.

Most, if not all of what makes the game unique and interesting to me is still there. The removal of very basic RPG-maker-like mechanics and exploration in order to focus more on what makes the game a good porn game and streamline the development is a great move.

The new direction is neat and I like it more than the legacy. Either way though it is up to you to make what you want and other comments talking about how you need to "address the supporters" who liked the legacy version rub me the wrong way. Any support given was given at that point in time and they are free to stop now if they disagree with the current direction.

Anyone having a problem trying to figure out the new system need better reading comprehension as I found it very easy. But that is game dev I guess, no tutorial will make everyone happy. Kinks like getting one shot on the first turn will be ironed out im sure.

Overall I would say the game's biggest strength is the art and the writing with all the different situations Saria gets into. 0.16 still has these strengths and is more focused on them; removing other parts that take work away from its main strengths is a net positive in my opinion, and I believe the game will be better for it in the future.
