Thanks for pointing this out. Yes, the art and graphics seemed very "uncanny valley"-ish to me but I could not put my finger on it.
I also found this (possibly fake?) user who doesn't seem to play any games except by this developer - https://itch.io/profile/promptinary Maybe their username is a pun on AI prompt engineering? Who knows.
All of this left a bad taste in my mouth :(
