This reminds me of an old jam game "Blood for the blood god" where the blood god's happiness depended on soldiers killing each other, so you would draw out battles as long as possible.
Also, I stupidly didn't read the instructions so I didn't know you could discard cards! This lead to the somewhat interesting situation where I would hang onto a bad card until I saw another card that I could use to "fix" the effect of the bad card.
I could imagine a multiplayer variant where each witch has a different goal. Anyway, nice variety in the effects and spells!
