The operation of the Z1 is something I would like to understand better. I understand the gate level interactions -- and even designed and 3D printed a few myself a few years ago -- but I am still wrapping my head around how to integrate them into a communicating (and computing) system. Unlike electronic logic, how you transport signals really matters quite a lot here.

This simulator seems to be a (potentially) excellent learning tool for making that next step; though -- admittedly -- Zuse's designs are so tightly integrated that they remain quite inscrutable to me.

Thanks for developing this, and I look forward to spending more time with it.

@mechabit -- contrats! Unfortunately, the ending sequence doesn't exist yet (next build!)

Having rebooted into Windows, I can confirm that it seems to unzip and play fine for me. If others have a problem with a missing data folder, please let me know.

cptScientist,

It appears to have all requisite parts when I unzip it here. I'll give it a double-check when I get back into Windows.
