This is an excellent funnel/gauntlet adventure. Several other such adventures that I have read seem like regular OSR adventures with this label slapped on. But Trial seems to have been designed from the ground up with 0 level characters in mind. The set-up makes sense, there is an early opportunity to pick up equipment, and most encounters are avoidable or escape-able. The map has all of the hallmarks of modern dungeon design like multiple exits and a looping structure. A fine piece of work.
