I am so sorry to hear about this - definitely a bug I have not experienced (the game shutting down). I'll try and recreate it.  In terms of bricks, that requires a specific building... but thats not available in level 1. That's a design flaw - I should not show that upgrade info if you can't unlock it.

Thanks for trying the game out. I'll work on a fixed version right away
