though i guess maybe i just get the souls some time after the mountains are destroyed? i forgot if souls are also a kind of ore. seems like soul drops might actually very vaguely coincide with every-fourth-mountain, appearing a while after it gets destroyed... idk it's very unclear

are mountains supposed to stop giving souls after 50? i wanted to see how much damage i could do but souls are very much a bottleneck. after some observing i'm feel like i'm not getting any from mountains, probably just calamities or another source i'm forgetting about... not sure because the calamity bar isn't really usable anymore
just prestiged to try out the update, bought a miner and got this error:

this looks pretty cool!
a couple issues:
- the "move your cursor over the tree" tutorial confused me because i thought it meant just moving the cursor once so that it stays over the tree, it could use an animation or different wording like "shake your cursor"
- at least the first two wood/currency icons look nearly identical when small and not right next to each other and i keep spending the wrong one by accident... it'd be nice to have their shapes be all different too
something went wrong and the runners got stuck running into the mountain for a while... i took the screenshot after some finally departed but some of them are still stuck. i don't think it could be a coincidence because i have literally 20 runners, kinda unlikely they would all be in that corner
also i feel like it's impossible to upgrade runners enough to make them keep up with the pile right now...
i like the premise, but not the way i have to interact with the game a few times a minute but not more or less frequently, and the repetitiveness got boring (probably because each cycle takes a while). i think it would be more fun for me if game time passed instantly without having to wait, but i also was looking for idle games where i could check in way less often, so i guess i'm not the audience for this either way right now
oh, also, scrolling with a touchpad was way too sensitive for some reason, it made the actions list pretty hard to navigate on a laptop because very little movement would scroll all the way to the bottom/top, this is different from how everything else on my computer reacts to the touchpad. not sure what's the reason for that. it'd be nice to have an alternative way to scroll, like arrow keys
very fun! i've won after over an hour total
possibly a bug: i wanted to try playing without the "pierce" passive but when i reset the upgrades, bought every passive but that one and switched to weapon upgrades and upgraded those, the pierce passive also suddenly turned out to be bought and this happened two or three times the same way... though after that i reset and started with buying upgrades and pierce didn't appear against my will. buying a lot of upgrades at once is annoying so i'm not trying this more to figure out if it's actually reproducible...
i'm not managing to progress after organized religion... 250k+ research points, i can get to foxes in like a few minutes and then it takes a bit more to get bears and religion (...i actually thought there wasn't anything after foxes before trying the game again after this update) but then there's no more upgrades and it looks like it'd take hours to get to the next staff and upgrading permits barely makes a difference :/ (for context i'm on the gardener's backyard with the philantropist bonus, that felt like the fastest combination for digging? i might be wrong though)
it's also kinda annoying that most upgrades are useless, there's no point in resetting the cost or doubling the efficiency of rabbits or whatever when they'd be getting <1% of the stuff either way, the update to raise mouse click efficiency to something in the tens of thousands arrives when the animals are doing quadrillions of digs per second... archeologist levels also got maxed out pretty quickly.... i do like the game overall though so i guess i'm gonna pretend i reached an ending for now, maybe a future update will make progressing faster at this point
the idea sounds great but the words it's been detecting are way too obscure... whenever i make a move i have no idea if it's gonna count some random three-letter combo that i've never seen before. just dropping tiles at random brings about the same results as when i'm trying to make words on purpose
