Thanks a lot for your comment! First of all, yes, the idea to use only stone for the buttons was mine; using torches as well would have made it too simple.
Also, once you pick up a torch, its timer keeps running—and eventually runs out—even if you drop it on the ground; that was a deliberate design choice :D
Finally, since the main goal is to stay alive and every round is so short (1 to 4 mins), I dont want to provide an immediate explanation for every monster; if you do get killed by one, the game tells you exactly which monster got you and offers a tip on how to avoid it or survive.
As for the controls, I built this game so fast and don't really see a long-term future for it, so I likely won't be releasing any updates. I'm currently working on a new, large-scale online HTML5 project, so I don't have much spare time. That said, if the game becomes even a little popular, I might expand on it significantly. Thanks so much for playing! <3
Thanks a lot for your comment! I intentionally kept the first entity simple so the player wouldn't get frustrated and quit right at the first level :D The real challenge comes in the final levels, where all the monsters are present and the character has to complete the objectives without dying—because if you die on level 9, you get sent all the way back to the start of the game :D
I created this HTML5 game in a very short time; my goal was to see what I could and couldn't achieve, and to see how different HTML5 is from Windows programming. Thanks to this game, I am now developing a co-op horror game in HTML5!
Yes, I was certainly inspired by that game; however, while that game featured a single monster with changing states, this game has multiple monsters, each with its own unique, variable mechanic. I simply wanted to create something like this because I really enjoyed that game, and it was also a great experience for me as my first HTML game.
thanks for this beautiful sprites! i also used your sprites as a boss in my JAM game:
