I really liked this one! As far as I understood you did everything yourself? It's super impressive! <3 I'll be keeping my eye on this game for future updates, the cliff-hanger left me wanting more hehe! One lil bit of feedback, might be easier on the reader if the characters each had a unique name colour, makes it easier to remember who was who, especially with 5 (6ish) characters being introduced almost at the same time.

It's a linear vn, there's no choices :3

There isn't a version of the game that includes nsfw content yet. Even before the project was taken down, I hadn't gotten around to including it. Future versions uploaded on itch.io will be censored, and the nsfw content will most likely be distributed by a patch. I'll make a post when I release it explaining how to aquire it. Thank you for your interest!

Still figuring out how I'll distribute it when that type of content is written, it's most likely going to be a patch you add to the game to access it.

Thank you for your interest in the game! <3

A definite stand out! I'm sure everyone has already mentioned the wonderful visuals, UI and music/sound design, but it bares repeating! Everything is polished up wonderfully, and the game is a treat for the eyes and ears. Special mention goes to the sound design, normally the most forgotten element, it is given a lot of love and attention in this VN! The SFXs are of high-quality, and are used to emphasise the prose and music, without distracting from it. Talking about the music, it's wonderful - as expected of Pink! My favorite track has to be the title screen song, the deep droning violin (or cello? I'm not a music scientist.) works really well for setting the tone!

The story itself is very interesting, it's obvious a lot of thought was put into the world-building and fleshing out of the characters and their personalities. Despite this, (and most likely due to my lack of media literacy lets be honest) I don't feel like I was able to connect with the story or characters as much as I would have liked. Despite being one of the main characters, Sampo didn't really feel like his own person, instead being the sacrificial lamb who's death helps the MC realise his actions have consequences. Maybe it was because of the MC's guarded and apathetic behavior, but it was hard to believe he and Sampo were childhood friends, and as such I couldn't feel as much of an emotional payoff to Sampo's death as I think was intended.

The epilogue felt a little unnecessary, it didn't feel like it said anything that can't already be assumed, the MC still cares deeply about North-of-Moon and Sampo, and seems to regret his actions. I feel like the pacing would have flowed better without it, ending with the MC leaving the world behind through the wardrobe. Maybe having it as an optional side-story from the menu, once the main game was completed? I'm probably being pedantic at this point, I just have a lot of thoughts about this story and it's a struggle to lay them all out!

Rapid fire of things that caught my eye that I loved! Very professional looking UI, gorgeous background art, evocative writing (especially the surgery scene, ouch), pretty lighting effects on the sprites, accessibility options, the VN being in Godot instead of the common Renpy, and the CATS in the credits (instant 5 stars for that alone)! I'll stop yapping now, thank you for all the hard work making this VN, it really shines! (Like a... like a light in the)

A wonderful visual novel with one of the most fleshed-out and interesting character(s) from the whole jam! Despite being only half an hour long, Remi feels like the most developed character I've read about in a while. Using the visuals and audio to convey their inner struggles, as well as subtly breaking the 4th wall when Remi calls out the UI textbox for not having the right names for their friends, it all works to make the story more engaging in a way not possible through writing only.

It's obvious Pink put a lot of thought into not only the individual pieces, but how they fit together! Other things I really liked were: the inclusion of accessibility features (beyond the stock ones Renpy comes with), the subtle ATL animations (the swinging lighting fixture), as well as all the little details (like the title disappearing from the title screen after the ending). This is already an amazing amount of work, but the fact that it was all done by a single person, one that was already helping out on another Maywolf in the meantime? Like, how. *Chefs kiss, but like with tongue...*

I can't give an exact date or anything like that, but I've began working on the VN again recently. Will try my hardest to get out an update as soon as I can! Thank you for your interest, it means a lot! <3

Thank you for playing! To get the little secret scene you need to have read all the answers, both correct and incorrect. You can keep track of which one you've seen by looking at the colour of the answer. Green means it's correct and you've read it before, and red means it's incorrect and you've read it before!

Sorry about that, I should probably edit the title to say its an april fools post at this point 😅

Handsome goat, its peak OwO

Not for this April Fools project, but future releases of HMDYD will have android versions available!

Har har har har har, har har har har HAR

We can give that a shot! 😊 Let me know what your discord name is, and I'll try DMing you the invite link!

Sorry for all the trouble! Not sure why that's happening, but I tried making a new invite, let me know if it works for you! https://discord.gg/Kc34ccPw

That's strange... Does this link work for you? https://discord.gg/CE2Z4K8fP4

Thank you! Coding the quiz screen was pretty tough, but a lot of fun! I might even be able to add support for custom quizzes in the future! Thanks again for playing! :D

Hehe, glad you caught onto that! I was trying to go for a cheesy porn vibe with the names and the title. Thank you for playing it!

Happy I could be of help! Layered images can be a bit tricky to figure out at first, if you need any help with them the best guide I've found is this one: https://gruntsteel.itch.io/distant-travels/devlog/452114/how-to-set-up-layeredimages-in-renpy-new-sprite-teaser

Good job on releasing your first build! If I can give any advice, I'd recommend looking into reducing the file size of the project. 850 MB is insanely large for a first release! You can bring that down a lot by converting your sprites from png to webp, as well as using layeredimages instead of having a bunch of full-body sprites. You should also consider removing unused backgrounds and audio tracks to try and trim the fat a bit.

Other than that, this looks very promising! Wishing you good luck!

Et tu, Pink? ☠️

You're not invited over for Christmas anymore, please start showering. I've had to open all of the windows and the smell of rotting cheeseburgers hasn't gone away. Also please take your rat back, he keeps nibbling my toes

I've rewritten this like 5 times already, because I can't seem to put it into words how much I liked this VN!

The characters? Amazing, fun, realistic and interesting! Despite the short run time, each character gets their chances to shine and make an impact on the reader.

And don't forget the visuals! Expressive, cute, well-detailed and colourful! There's just so much charm and love poured into every sprite, expression and background, not to mention the custom UI! It screams polish and personality, and it's a little crazy you were able to do this in just one month!

I won't mention the story to avoid spoilers, but it took a few unexpected turns, and kept me engaged till the end. I wanted it to keep going by the end, I needed to see more of these characters!

There's only one thing that tripped me up while reading, and this is mostly on me! The shifts in perspective made it a little difficult to keep track of who is speaking, and who's narration I was reading. Not to mention the translation device had it's own rules which complicated things, and at multiple points I had to pause to quickly figure out who's saying something, and if others can hear what that person is saying. I also played this at 2AM, so my brain was a little slow, haha.

To be fair, the textbox does change colour to signify the character speaking, but I didn't feel like I got enough time to memorise it before the plot began to hit.

I could probably ramble more, but I'll spare you having to read that. Final thoughts, I loved it! (But I did not love the panettone slander, a plague be upon ye 🔫)

Really fun read, enjoyed experimenting with the choices and seeing all the different endings! I almost missed that the title screen changes depending on what you do, its very subtle but a really cool effect! I'm not sure if I managed to see every version of each ending, as there seems to be small variations depending on choices, but I did get the secret ending, so that was fun, haha!

Unless I missed something, it felt like the plot with the uncle and dad doesn't really go anywhere, which is a little bit of a shame, but I get the focus is on the possession and Callum's story more than that.

Minor nitpicks aside, I had a lot of fun with this VN, and I'd love to see what you come up with in the future!

You did such an amazing job with Bake's animations! The way he jumps and bounces around is so fun, and his design is so weirdly cute as well! There's just so much love and polish in the presentation of the VN, especially stuff like the little sound effects as Bake does his thing, (Also I heard the minecraft door sound in there as well, hehe)

Overall I really liked it, wish it was a little longer so I could see Bake and the protagonist interact more.

An enjoyable read! I haven't seen many VNs made in RPGmaker, so that was interesting to experience. The character designs are all lovely, and I enjoyed their personalities as well! Uncle Vern is def my favorite! The background having a diorama of the scene is such a clever idea, and I loved when it matched with the monologue, like with the black tile in the shop, really nice attention to detail!

The only thing that was a little strange is that the game didn't have an ending, like a fade to black, or exit to title screen or something like that. It just stops giving any more dialogue, which was a little odd.

Other than that though, I liked it a lot, would love to see what else you work on in the future! <3

The writing in this VN was wonderful, probably the best from what I've read so far! The way you described the scenes really helped draw me in, especially the first flashback, with the bridge and the stream. It's a little hard to describe, but it felt really nostalgic?

The music and ambiance worked well with the story, though the looping and cut offs between scenes were a bit jarring.

I hope you consider continuing the story in the future, I'd love to read more about what happened between Victor and Caden!

An enjoyable read! I liked how you described the blob growing and experimenting with its appearance and form, definitely a unique point of view for a protagonist. The title and background looked nice as well, I always appreciate seeing something hand-drawn, as opposed to stock images (which I'm guilty of, haha!)

I think the romance element came a bit quick, it felt like the characters had barely gotten to know each other. The writing itself could use a bit of cleaning-up and formatting, it felt like plot points happened one after the other, without giving the player time to breathe and digest the information. While I could feel the worry and anxiety of the characters over the political situation, it felt like it needed a bit more for it to really sink in.

Overall, it was a short and sweet story, with a lot of interesting ideas. Looking forward to whatever you make next! <3

Hi, thank you for the nice comment! The song comes from Tem_Music Factory, you can find it here. Look for a song called Dilemma. I edited the one used in game to sound like it's played through a radio, so the website one is a lot clearer!

It's great to see you're back, best of luck! :D

Wishing you the best, hope everything works out for you

No way! I remember playing the demo years ago, I had completely forgotten about this game until I just saw it on the itch.io main page! instant purchase!

Amazing work as always, looking forward to the update! Also yesss more Khenbish content! I really liked him when he showed up but was a bit bummed out that he didnt get much screentime, cant wait to see what you come up with! :3

Loving it so far, cant wait to see where it goes! (Is there a bear in the background of the CG with Kal?) Also btw, it would be useful to have a version number for each update, makes it easier to check if the game has been updated for those who don't keep track of the dev logs

(1 edit)

The 0.1.3 version of the game doesn't seem to be available, the latest one I can download is the 0.1.2 one

Edit: Nevermind, it seems to have fixed itself :3

Oh, I remember playing this years ago, great to see it back in development! :D

Reminds me a lot of those early 2000 harry potter games on PC, looks really promising, looking forward to playing more!

The new sprite is looking good, can't wait for the update!
