I tried your suggestions but none of them seemed to work. It's probably because of my machine, I guess.

The game was already installed on my main drive when the problem happened. Plus, not every area was affected; in fact, in most areas it would run smoothly.

Great game all around, but I noticed that the game would significantly lag at certain points (e.g. at the sand dunes) which makes traversing the landscape borderline impossible. Is this intended and if not, how can I fix it?
