Uhm, I actually agreed with you. The backlash you got for your comments is exactly because of what you just did, being extremely emotional that it borders on being rude. Again, I agreed with you, I thought that was obvious by saying "I agree with you", and even gave you a rec for something that's probably more to your taste. You are so up in arms that you lash out at someone who agreed with you that the characterisation isn't great when one plays as straight, I defended your opinion, but all you got from it is that I called you raging, which you were, just like now. You seriously need to calm down and reflect, because you seem unaware of how your comments sound.

I actually feel bad for you, people here seem to have completely misunderstood what you were saying.

I love this IF, it’s by far one of the most promising I’ve followed in the past few years, but I do agree that MC’s characterisation is very feminine, or better put “BL typical”.
If the player choses their MC to be into women, then he shouldn’t act like a fair maiden when touched, kissed, etc. by another man, the average straight dude would feel at least uncomfortable if not outright grossed out. He wouldn’t blush.
I understand why you are upset about the characterisation; the MC was either written with a female MC in mind, or he’s heavily intended to be gay/bi.

While I still love the game, I can totally see why it’s disappointing for someone expecting to be able to play as a genuinely straight man.

But. You have to keep in mind that people on here aren’t professionals, and most IF devs women, it’s hard for layman to write the opposite gender, hell, many professionals can’t even do it.
You have valid criticism and stating it calmly, explaining it properly, might even help the dev to improve – but there’s no point in being rude or raging.

Maybe IFs from the “choice of/hosted games” brand would be better for you, they cater more to straight people, and if you are into superheroes/villains, I highly recommend  the "Fallen Hero" series, which does all sexualities exceptionally well.

While I like the premise, player choices are poorly accounted for, you have a fairly specific character in mind for the MC and won’t really let the player change anything about it.

Choosing something along the lines of “I like this life” shouldn’t lead to “I wouldn’t do it if I had the choice but it could be worse”, and I’ve noticed many similar instances. Maybe I just picked the choices aligning with traits/stances you really don’t want the MC to have, but extenuating the player’s decisions to fit into what’s basically a fixed character, making the choice nothing but flavour, isn’t the right way to handle this.

It’s just very obvious that you either feel uncomfortable with certain reactions and unconsciously try to diminish them, or simply want to write about a specific kind of MC.

None of this is bad, just a normal reaction from a writer who isn’t used to letting go of their characters, but maybe you should think about what you really want to do with this story.

A fixed MC? Leave out choices that would influence the characterisation and focus on observation and action, just state in the description that it’s a fixed MC and choices limited to actions and/or story progression.
Account for personality shaping? Then try to let go of the character you have in mind and treat it as roleplaying or an alternative universe, so you can stay in-character according to the player’s choice.

At the end it’s about you having fun working on this and if you actually want to write a fixed MC, then don't hesitate.
It’s better than railroading characterisation and spares you complains that would trickle in once the game becomes really popular, which I have no doubt will be the case.

I wish you all the best and hope this IF will become something you look back on fondly, proudly, and with a smile.

I was reluctant to buy it despite my interest from the moment it was announced due to too many devs running away with the money during development, now I got it in the Ukraine bundle and played it non-stop (the choice to include it was very fitting, although sad).

Amazing game, great story, some battles are just damn frustrating, the hit chance of status effects seems way too high compared to how many items you can find to cure them, I ran out of nearly everything, including healing items, by the end of chapter 2.

A way to compare equipment would be great as well, having to switch them out just to see the stats is quite tedious when you have a bunch of stuff.

Apart from that, I really enjoyed it and hope the devs will finish it, I want to know how their story ends.

How will you handle the 18+ aspects on Steam, will there be a SFW version and we download a patch somewhere, or will it be the 18+ release only?

I'm from Germany and Steam no longer shows us sexual games, if it's the latter then I'll buy it here :)

Such a haunting experience, the suffocating feeling, the desperation, a crushing weight that brought tears to my eyes.

I would have never thought of this metaphor and will keep it in mind for when I have to explain addiction to someone.

The moment your friend says that you are the only one in the photo really shows the true nature of drugs, all the comfort they provide, the “happiness”, is an illusion only you can see.

Really a splendid game.
